• Room air is drawn, filtered and compressed to a
• pressure of 4 atmospheres, and passed into a
column containing Zeolite beads.
• Nitrogen binds to the Zeolite, while oxygen passes
through. The flow of air is switched to a second
column, before the column becomes saturated

project (50 - 100 words): • Then first column is vented to atmosphere,
discharging most of the nitrogen, and the
remainder of the nitrogen is removed by back
flushing the column with a small flow of oxygen
from the second column.
• As the second column approaches saturation, the
process is reversed.

What is new The usage of LiLSX zeolite to produce both high purity
and recovery of nitrogen and oxygen.
There are various techniques for separation of nitrogen,
amongst them the most common are reverse stirling

technology in terms of Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is a well-established
technique for separation of components from air, which is

commonly known as Air Separation Unit (ASU), drying

and etc. In PSA processes, the most important is
adsorbent material(Zeolite) depending upon its properties.
Recovery of 99% oxygen and nitrogen from the feed at
optimal conditions, found using simulation models.
Zeolite for oxygen concentration process is zeolite 13X

exchange method exhibits a higher nitrogen adsorption
capacity at the active cation sites of the zeolite
framework.

Currently no portable device capable of producing

oxygen continuously with 99% efficiency, however
portable oxygen concentrators are available. There is a
growing need to address the health and quality of life
Global Scenario through a light-weight and portable oxygen concentrator
with a medical grade oxygen supply (O2 concentration:
~88–92 vol %). Currently, oxygen concentration
techniques are based on air separation processes such as

swing adsorption (PSA) that can effectively produce
enriched oxygen using ambient air as the source.

Portable oxygen concentrators are also available in India.

Portable oxygen concentrators receive air, purify it and
then distribute the changed air. Air is made up of mostly
nitrogen and some oxygen before it goes into the
Indian Scenario concentrator. After going through the concentrator, the air
comes out almost all oxygen and very little nitrogen. The
device then separates the nitrogen to give the individual
as much oxygen as possible.
