SUBJECT: GUIDELINES FOR THE EXPANDED STUDENTS’ GRANTS-IN-AID PROGRAM
FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION (ESGP-PA) AWARD

In accordance with the pertinent provisions of the Republic Act (RA) No. 7722, otherwise
known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994” and pursuant to the Commission en Banc
Resolution No. 262 dated April 18, 2016, the Commission hereby approves the following
Guidelines for the Expanded Students’ Grants-In-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP.
PA) Award:
1. Rationale
As part of the Government's recognition of the efforts of the student-grantees under
ESGP-PA who completed their chosen field wish academic excellence and/or received
leadership awards, a special token in a form of medal will be given. Said medals will be in
two (2) categories namely: graduates with academic excellence and graduates with
leadership award given by the school.
NL, Objectives
The objectives of the ESGP-PA Award are to.
1. Identify graduates who excelled in their academics and graduates who received
leadership award given by the school;
2. Serve as a recognition for the immense effort in cumpleting a college education
considering their humble circumstances; and
3. Provide motivation to strive for excellence.
Ml, Medal Categories
Medals to be given will be in two (2) categories:
1. Graduates with academic award - for graduates with academic excellence; and
2. Graduates with leadership award - for graduates with leadership awerd given by
the school.

1. Graduating ESGP-PA student-grantees who are candidate for academic
distinction of either @ summa cum laude, magna cum laude or cum laude;
2. Graduating ESGP-PA student-grantees with exemplary qualities of leadership as
awarded by the school; and
3. Student grantees may receive both academic and leadership awards as
appropriate.
Vv. Procedure
1. Medals wil be procured by the Office of Student Development and Services
(OSDS) through the Higher Education Development Fund (HEDFI;
2. It will be distributed to the concerned State Universities and Colleges (SUCS}
ough the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Offices
according to the estimated number of student-grantees who will receive
academic distinction and leadership award;
3. The respective SUCs will present the medals to the graduates during the
Commencement Exercises. In the event that CHED officials will be present
during the commencement exercises, said medals will be awarded by the
highest ranking CHED official present;
4. SUCS written reports regarding the awarding of medals will be submitted by the
concerned SUCs to CHED-OSDS through the CHED Regional Office not iater than
the last day of April. Said reports should include testimonials, pictures and video
ips; and
Reports should be sent in both hard and soft copies to the OSDS, 3" Flr., HEDC
Bidg.,,C. Garcia Ave., Diliman, Quezon City through registered mail and email
at ass@ched.gov.ph.
