Health Insurance and Medicine Quality in Kurdistan

Having health insurance and good quality of medicine is the main beneficial
point in people’s life. But the quality of health varies from country to country it
relates to the government and provides a huge budget for the health sector. The
quality of medicine in Kurdistan is very poor and lacks many essential things and it
is very tough for people to get sufficient treatment. Sadly, the Kurdistan health
sector is devastated and for making better quality it needs more doctors,
pharmaceutical factories, and medical instruments.

The first problem is that doctors are trying to migrate to other countries because of
the current situation in Kurdistan, so they create a gap in the lack of doctors that
make the health field worse and lead to the low quality of medicine. According to
the global investigation, every five to six people need one doctor, this is a standard
rate. However, in Kurdistan for twenty-three to twenty-five patients, only one
doctor is available based on the ministry of health, so it makes the hospitals
overcrowd and lousy quality. If experienced doctors migrate, the resident doctors
have not enough experience, and they are a source for a mistake such as death and
prescribe the wrong medication.

Drugs are prescribed to cure or treat a disease. Most of the medications are not
available in Kurdistan. Even it is not easy to get some specific medication. This
problem relates to having no factory to produce sufficient drug. Nearly 90% of
drugs are importing from outside, which needs a high budget; instead of that
spending money to create local factories to produce drugs is much more beneficial
and increases the quality of drugs and the costs are cheap. If the pharmaceutical
factories are not available people should use alternative drugs that cost more, and
people cannot know if this company uses pure and good ingredients. Some of the
drugs come from outside made from ineffective ingredients and finally led to poor
quality of medicine in Kurdistan.

Medical instruments are used to diagnose and find specific or different diseases,
such as cancer, pregnancy, and broken bones. These devices are the main
requirement in the hospitals. Every mild disease needs an instrument to diagnose,
without them the medical field is completely devastated. Kurdistan faces this
problem, there are only basic instruments available in the hospitals including
private hospitals. Sometimes patients must go outside to diagnosis his or her
disease because the instrument that does the job is not available and this decreases
the quality of health. For example, during recent pandemic coronavirus hospitals
lack of necessary instruments for breathing. Finally, the better the instruments the
better the health quality.
In conclusion, having these points mentioned above is a key for the best medical
quality and patient’s safety, otherwise, if these followings points are absent the
disaster will devastate the health sector. In my opinion, the government must
increase the budget for all health factors, do you agree with me?
