BARU BIAN APPOINTS 19 PARLIAMENTARY COORDINATORS FOR SARAWAK

KUCHING, 21 FEBRUARY 2020 – YB Tuan Baru Bian, Minister of Works and Chairman of the
State Development Action Council (Majlis Tindakan Pembagunan Negeri Sarawak-MTPNg) for the
Federal Government, has today appointed 19 Parliamentary Coordinators for their respective
parliamentary constituencies in State of Sarawak.

A Parliamentary Coordinator’s main role is to ensure that programmes and projects under the Federal
Government’s Five-Year Development Plan are carried out accordingly.

Besides that, Parliamentary Coordinators represent the Pakatan Harapan government in


parliamentary seats held by the Opposition; they are to promote and implement the Federal
government’s policies and strengthen relationships between the government and the public.

The Government’s concern on issues faced by the Rakyat will be raised and expressed directly
through these Parliamentary Coordinators who will be responsible for the delivery and
implementation of projects set out to meet the needs of the people who are displaced from current
development. This includes encouraging the Rakyat to be involved in the planning and
implementation of projects in the constituency.

Each Parliamentary Coordinator, representing his or her respective constituency, will receive the
Prime Minister’s Special Allocation of RM500,000 annually, to be approved only by the Director
General of the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM) and the
State Development Director.

This Special Allocation has to be utilised during the current year in accordance with the Honourable
Prime Minister’s directive. This allocation is a public fund and must strictly follow the stipulated
guidelines.
