Dear Nursing Recruitment,

I am a nursing student at Grand Canyon University and I am eager to join the Banner nursing
team through a medical surgical residency position. I will be graduating in April 2021 with my
BSN from Grand Canyon University with over 200 hours of well-rounded clinical experience
and am anticipating taking my NCLEX-RN in June 2021. My main focus is on adult health care,
however, I will be grateful working in any internship position related to acute care.

Specific to your medical surgical residency position, I have earned 120 hours of clinical
expertise on a med-surg unit which have allowed me to earn many strengths as an applicant. I
had the opportunity to shadow multiple nurses who incorporated me in the plan of care for each
patient, and allowed me to expand my skills in medication administration, IV administration,
nursing procedures, and patient charting on the Cerner EHR system. I have been able to engage
in critical thinking, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and effectively communicate
with my patient in a therapeutic way.

I believe the skills I have gained through clinical experience have set me up for success to

effectively benefit the work environment on a med-surg floor through your residency program. I

look forward to continuing to use my skills and become more knowledgeable through critical
