Thai Restaurant Review IGCSE ESL Exercise 6
Thai Restaurant Review IGCSE ESL Exercise 6
This exercise gives you valuable practice for the IGCSE ESL Examinations. You have to write
approximately 150–200 words of continuous prose, in response to a short stimulus, which may
take the form of pictures and/or short prompts.
Your English teacher has asked you to write a review of a restaurant in your area. You
should talk about the kind of food it offers, the decor, the service and what your dining
experience was like.
The place definitely looks the part as I felt as though I had just walked (3) a
restaurant in Bangkok. Even the waitress looked authentic, as she was wearing a
traditional Thai silk outfit.
The menu was fairly limited, so we opted for the lunchtime special (4) a
starter, main course and a dessert. First, we decided to share some spring rolls which
prove to (5) a good choice. For the main course, we had a Thai green curry
and a large bowl of Jasmine rice. The curry was a little too spicy for me, (6)
my friend thought it was spot on. After (7) , we ordered a bowl of tasty mango
with sticky rice that finished (8) a memorable lunch.
Considering (9) restaurant has only been open for a short time, it was great
(10) see that it has got off to a great start even though it wasn't busy.
However, I am sure (11) word gets around about the quality of food, it won't
be long (12) they will be taking bookings only.
