Unlike the major scale, there are 3 types of minor scale: the natural minor, melodic minor
and harmonic minor. Each minor scale has a different use and application in jazz piano
and so learning how to construct and apply each one is an important skill.

Practise Tips
Try to learn the formulas for constructing these scales as soon as possible: start with the natural
minor, raise the 7th degree by half a step and you have the harmonic minor. Then also raise the 6th
degree by half a step and you have the melodic minor. Watch the minor scales lesson to learn when
and where to use these scales.

Practice all scales over 2 octaves with a metronome.
