Alternative stores of value

-real estate - ownership in actual deeds in protectible controllable land.

-precious metals - ownership in gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
-precious stones, ancient artifacts, ancient coinage.
-collectibles, e.g. original art by a famous artist or antiques.
-livestock ownership and control (see African currency).
-stock ownership in a company which is a system to exchange human labor for value.

While these items may be inconvenient to trade daily or store, and may vary in
value quite significantly, they rarely or never lose all value. This is the point
of any store of value, to impose a natural risk management simply due to inherent
stable demand for the underlying asset. It need not be a capital asset at all,
merely have economic value that is not known to disappear even in the worst
situation. In principle, this could be true of any industrial commodity, but gold
and precious metals are generally favored because of their demand and rarity in
nature, which reduces the risk of devaluation associated with increased production
and supply.

Lets say, out of your income, you have saved Php 120,000.00 in the bank. If youre
good at negotiations, this could buy you a second hand Van, which could then be
used as a public vehicle to fairy people from one district to the next. You could
charge a hired driver a daily fee of Php 800.00 for the use. Php 800.00 for 30 days
would earn you Php 24,000.00 or Php 288,000.00 in a year. This income could then
buy you an additional public van which would completely leverage your income. You
dont need to be hands on in this kind of business; all you have to do is to
designate the managerial work to one of your trusted family members.
Another investment worth your money is real estate property. Keep in mind, the
value of real estate properties doesnt depreciate in value; it would always rise
throughout the years. Save enough money (the meaning of enough would be at your
discretion), after you have saved, buy a piece of land (if you already have a
vacant piece of land thatll be great), then with the remaining fund from your
savings account, build a 2-3 storey apartment. There would always be people
thatll be looking for a place to stay. With a good price for the rent, most of the
money that you have invested would be returned to you in a year or two. If in case
the apartment becomes vacant, you dont have to worry because there would be no
expense at that.

Lastly, you might want to check out Mutual Funds, Unit Invested Trust Funds, Retail
Treasury Bonds and Unit-Linked Insurance. All of these investment vehicles only
need a minimal amount of capital and they all have a fund manager that will do all
the work for you.

For passive income thru secured, and guaranteed interests try mo Rural Banks,
Bumili ako ng gold sa bullionvault.com. Tataas daw ang gold price to 2500-3000
usd/ounce. Nung 2003 projections nila tataas ang gold from 200 usd to 1000 usd in 3
years. Pero 5 years nangyari. Sa tingin ko tataas talaga ang gold dahil sa
inflation. So at least double in 5 years (about 14% per year).

I'm studying the US stock market. I'm thinking of putting 80% of my dollars in
dividend earning stocks and reinvest the dividends. And 20% in speculative stocks
(double every year) - gold mining stocks. So, average of 25% per year.

I think its better to save and invest in dollars. Major currencies are all down but
dollar is still the best among the worst. And Philippine peso is fiat money. So 10
or 20 years down the line I still see myself as holding dollars. Cash is king. The
dollar is king. And gold is queen.

i put my dollars in GLD and SLV (gold and silver ETF's) through ameritrade.com.
i put my pesos in bond funds and t-bills (mostly t-bills).
stocks only 10% - gold and silver royalty trusts also through ameritrade.com.
got a short dollar security (higher value as the dollar weakens)
when the dollar bubble pops, i intend to put the pesos to work.
