0 0 3 2 Pre-requisites: Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic and Hydraulic Machinery Course Outcomes: At the end of the Course, the Student will be able to: CO 1 Determine the discharge using flow measuring devices both in pipe flow and open channel flow CO 2 Demonstrate the application of Bernoulli’s Theorem. CO 3 Illustrate different types of flow patterns. CO 4 Estimate the loss of energy in pipes due to different flowconditions. CO 5 Determine the performance of various turbines and pumps under varying operating conditions. LIST OF EXPERIMENTS: 1. Calibration of Venturimeter / Orifice meter. 2. Determination of coefficient of discharge for a small orifice / external mouthpiece by constant head method / variable head method. 3. Calibration of contracted Rectangular Notch / Triangular Notch / Broad crested weir. 4. Determination of friction factor / coefficient of loss of head due to pipe fittings in a given pipeline. 5. Verification of Bernoulli’s theorem. 6. Reynolds’s Experiment- Demonstration of types of flows.
