MELT PROCESSING RELEASES VAPORS WHICH MAY CAUSE EYE, SKIN AND RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. MAY FORM EXPLOSIVE DUST-AIR MIXTURES. IMPROPER TRANSFER MAY CAUSE ELECTROSTATIC SPARK. Potential Health Effects. Inhalation and skin contact are expected to be the primary routes of occupational exposure to this material. EGBE, a ‘component of this material, is considered to be slightly to moderately toxic if swallowed, moderately toxic if absorbed through skin, slightly toxic if inhaled, moderately to severely irtating to eyes and slight irritating to skin. High vapor concentrations are iritating to the eyes and respiratory tract, and may result in central nervous system (CNS) effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness and, in severe exposures, loss of consciousness and death. Prolonged or repeated contact removes oils from the skin and may dry skin and cause irritation, redness and rash. If swallowed, this material may cause digestive tract irritation and CNS effects as noted above. Studies with laboratory animals also indicate that large dosages of EGBE may cause red blood cell damage (hemolysis) jage 1 of7 Revisigg: 9 _Issued:May 5, 2005 Gare ‘SARTOMER Dp TOTAL Aes Comet ‘SMA (R) 1440 FLAKE OR POWDER Material Safety Data Sheet Sartomer Company, Inc. 4 FIRST AID MEASURES IN CASE OF CONTACT, flush the area with plenty of water.
