Smooth Scrolling to PDFs

Microsoft has nally enabled DNS over HTTPS (DoH) with Secure DNS as default DNS provider by default
in Edge Canary 86.0.612.0 and allows users to choose a custom DNS from Cloud are, CleanBrowsing
(Family Filter), Quad9, and Google Public DNS. The Edge Canary update also brings Smooth Scrolling for
PDFs behind a ag.

Google has already rolled out and enabled DNS over HTTPS (DOH) with Secure DNS as default in Chrome
84 sometime back. You should know that your ISP should support Secure DNS, otherwise it doesn’t work.

Chrome also allows choosing other DNS providers such as Google Public DNS, Quad9, CleanBrowsing
(Family Filter), and Cloud are from the redesigned security Settings page that offers Standard and
Enhanced Protection choices for Safe Browsing.

After Chrome, Microsoft has turned on DOH with Secure DNS as default provider by default in the latest
Edge Canary version. Till now the feature is available behind the “Secure DNS lookups” ag, the ag is no
longer available with the latest update.

Microsoft has revealed it will end support for Edge Legacy on March 9, 2021. The company has already
ported some of the features from the previous version of Edge to new Edge including of PDF Viewer.

Microsoft Edge team announced a roadmap for PDF Reader where it promised to bring Table of Contents,
Highlight mode, Protected mode, Digital Signatures, Smoother Scrolling, and Accessibility improvements
to new Edge PDF Reader.

Digital Signatures, Highlight mode already available in Canary, now Legacy Edge’s smooth Scrolling for
PDF has been offered behind the ag in the latest Canary.

Enable Smooth Scrolling for PDFs in Microsoft  Edge


1. Launch Microsoft Edge browser
2. Search for “Enable Smooth Scrolling for PDF”

3. Select “Enabled” from the dropdown and restart the browser

Load a PDF in new Edge Web browser and see if you can feel the difference.
