As advised by teacher Simon, there is a list of 6 main topics that students should prepare in advance of the speaking test: 1.Describe an object (a gift, something you use etc.) 2.Describe a person (someone you admire, a family member etc.) 3.Describe an event (a festival, celebration etc.) 4.Describe an activity (e.g. a hobby, a game, etc.) 5.Describe a place (somewhere you visited, a holiday etc.) 6.Describe your favourite (book/film/advertisement/website) Most questions in part 2 speaking fall into at least one of these topics. Students should cover all 6 topics before taking the test to give themselves a source of ideas.
A hint question for each topic:
1. Describe an object
Describe a useful electronic device that you have.
You should say:
What it is How long you have used it What you use it for
and explain why it is useful
2. Describe a person
Describe a famous person that you admire.
You should say:
Who the person is
How you got to know about him or her
Why that person is famous
and explain why you admire that person
