Surah Al-Kahf
People of Makkah, before Islam:
2500 yrs ago, Ismael A.S was
the only prophet sent to them
Forgot his teaching of Tawhid
Started associating idols with
Allah S.W.T
Unfamiliar with Prophets,
……Prophethood, Wahi etc.
Prophethood of Muhammed was strange to them
Most were unlettered
Jews of Madinah:
Had many Prophets in
past
Knowledgeable among Arabs
Had divine book, Tawrah
Few Makkans decided to consult
the Jews of Madinah about the
truthfulness of Muhammed
S.A.W Prophethood and went to
Madinah. As no jews lived in
Makkah.
 The Jews suggested Makkans to ask three question from Prophet
Muhammed ‫ﷺ‬, because only a true Prophet would know the answers

1. Who were the youth in the past, who slept in the cave and had
wondrous experience?

2. Who was the man who travelled to the ends of the

earth in the East and the West?

3. What is Ruh/spirit

In response to these questions, Allah S.W.T revealed Surah Al-Kahf

Surah Al-Kahf
 How reciting this Surah protects us from the Fitnah of Dajjal
The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said ‘From the time of
the creation of Adam until the day of In this Surah four trials are mentioned……
judgment begins, there will never be
a bigger creation than the
Dajjaal.’”
Trial of faith/Iman
means anything that distracts from the
right

Dajjal will be equipped with the
fitnah of wealth, knowledge and

make people leave their Imaan.
This surah teaches us how to be

 Who is Dajjal?
Dajjal means “the one who makes something confusing deliberately and tells
many lies to deceive people”

“The prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said: ‘The Dajjal will be blind in one eye, and
between his eyes will be written ‘kafir’…’”

The prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said “Allah is not

1. Will be one-eyed
2. ‘Kafir ’written on forehead
3. Read by every believer
one-eyed, but the false messiah
(al-maseh al-dajjal) is one-eyed,
blind or defective in his right
eye, with his eye looking like a
floating grape…”
 Who is Dajjal?
“(Dajjal will say:), ‘I almost have permission to emerge. Then I will emerge and will travel
throughout the earth for forty days, and I shall not leave any town without entering it, apart
from Makkah and Madinah, which I will be prevented from entering because every time I try to
enter, there will be an angel with an unsheathed sword in his hand, preventing me from
entering. On every gate there will be angels defending them.’”

“The Dajjal will emerge from a land in the east called Khurasan.”

 Who is Dajjal?
The prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said “Dajjal will have two rivers flowing. One will clearly look like
water and the other will clearly look like blazing fire. If any one of you sees that, let
him choose the river which looks like fire, then let him close his eyes and lower his
head and drink from it, for it will be cool water.’”

The prophet‫ ﷺ‬said “He will have with him a paradise and a hell,
but his hell will be a paradise and his paradise will be a hell.’”

 Who is Dajjal?
Dajjal will come to some people and call them, and they will believe in him and respond to
him. Then he will command the sky to rain, and the earth to bring forth vegetation, and their
cattle will come back to them in the evening, with their humps very high, and their udders full
of milk, and their flanks stretched. Then he will come to another people and will call them, but
they will reject him. So he will leave them and they will be stricken with famine, with none of
their wealth in their hands.
He will pass by ruins and will say, ‘Bring forth your treasure!’ – and the treasure will follow him
like a swarm of bees. Then he will call a young man, and will strike him with a sword and cut
him in two, then (he will put the pieces apart from one another) the distance of an archer from
his target. Then he will call him, and the young man will come forward smiling, with his face
shining.”

A man whom the Dajjal will kill will be one of the best people. He will go
out to the Dajjal from the city of the Prophet S.A.W , and will say to the
Dajjal, “I bear witness that you are the Dajjal of whom the Prophet S.A.W
told us.”

The Dajjal will say (to the people): “What do you think – if I kill this man
then bring him back to life, will you have any doubts?”

They will say, “No.” So he will kill him, then bring him back to life.

Then he (the believing man) will say, “By Allah, I have never been more
sure about you than I am today.” The Dajjaal will want to kill him but will
not be permitted to
 Cheat People and Claim to be god

“Part of his fitnah will be that he will say to a Bedouin, ‘Do you
think that if I resurrect your father and mother for you that you
will testify that I am your lord?’

He will say, ‘Yes.’

So two devils will appear to him in the image of his father and
mother, saying, ‘O my son, follow him for he is your lord.’”

Prophet S.A.W said “ remember that your Lord is not one-eyed.”

 Death of Dajjal by Isa A.S
Fitnah of dajjal will spread everywhere
Only few will remain believer
Isa will descend to the eastern
minaret in Damascus
On seeing Isa, dajjal will melt like salt in water
Isa will catch dajjal at gate of Ludd

Every kafir who will smell the
fragrance of (Isa) will die, and his
fragrance will reach as far as he will be
able to see. He will then search for him
(the Dajjaal) until he catches up with
him at the gate of Ludd, where he will
kill him.”
 Advice of Prophet‫ﷺ‬

“Whoever hears of the Dajjal, let him

keep far away from him, for a man will
come to him and think that Dajjal is
telling the truth because of the wonders
that are sent with him.”

Group of youth denied idol Their king threatened to kill them if they
Believed one God
worship continued to believe in Tawhid

They took shelter in a cave Decided to leave the town quietly The youth remained firm

Made dua to Allah S.W.T for His help Allah S.W.T accepted their dua and made them sleep for 309 years

When Allah S.W.T woke them up, the entire place had become
believers

They died shortly after the king discovered their miraculous sleep
 Trial of Faith- Lesson from Story
From this story we conclude that no matter what happens and where we are, in
what situation, we have to worship Allah, stay on right and we should have a
strong belief in Him. He always comes to rescue even going against laws of
nature e.g; Allah made fire cool for Ibrahim.

How does this story helps us to stay firm on our belief against Dajjal?
Because Dajjal will also force people to believe in him through his
power over them. But a believer must remember that no matter how
much power he has, Allah S.W.T will save you from the evil of Dajjal

We can protect our faith by being in the company

of faithful and good people. As they will always be
a source of confidence and support whenever you
feel shaky, staying on the right path

The rich used to say to the poor friend
One friend was rich, he had two lush gardens One was poor
“I am greater than you in wealth”

His poor friend reminded him One day he looked at his gardens
He forgot to say In sha Allah and said “This will never vanish”
about it, and the short term
nature of this world

He behaved arrogantly and denied this fact Allah S.W.T sent a strong wind that destroyed his gardens

Then he realized his mistakes

This is how his wealth deluded him about the reality of worldly things
 Trial of wealth – Lessons from Story
Wealth is a test from Allah S.W.T to see how a person behave after having it.
Does he become arrogant and think others inferior? Does he remember that it is
all from Allah S.W.T not my own? Does he try to prepare for his hereafter by
spending wealth in the right way or waste money on sinful things?

How does this story helps us prevent from fitnah of Dajjal?

Because Dajjal will give worldly luxury to his followers. And will deprive
to his deniers. So anyone who remembers that worldly life is temporary
it doesn’t worth to disobey Allah for it, will not get trapped by Dajjal’s
fitnah.

‫ت َخ ۡي ٌر ِع ۡن َد َر ِبّ َك ثَ َوابًا ﱠو َخ ۡي ٌر ا َ َم ًﻼ‬

ُ ‫ص ِل ٰح‬ ُ ‫ا َ ۡل َما ُل َو ۡال َبـنُ ۡو َن ِز ۡينَةُ ۡال َح ٰيو ِة الد ۡﱡن َيا ۚ َو ۡال ٰب ِق ٰي‬
‫ت ال ﱣ‬
Wealth and children are (but) an adornment of the worldly life. And the
everlasting good deeds are better to your lord for reward and better for
(ones) hope. Kahf #46

Don’t be so mesmerized by this world, it is

temporary. Focus on what is everlasting, it will
benefit you.
 Trial of Knowledge – Musa A.S & Khizr

Once somebody asked Musa “Who is the most He replied “I am” as he was the prophet of Allah S.W.T
knowledgeable person”

Allah S.W.T told Musa there is someone who is more knowledgeable than you.

Musa A.S became humble and took a His name is Khizr, go and meet him
long journey to meet him

During his meeting, he learned that what Khizr knows, he doesn’t. And
Allah blessed him with a different knowledge

No matter how much knowledge you have, there will always be someone
whom Allah has blessed with more. And only Allah has the most and
complete knowledge. Always trust in what Allah has told us, never doubt
about it.

How does this story helps us to prevent from fitnah of Dajjal?

Dajjal will lie a lot to people. But anyone who remembers that Allah
is the most knowledgeable, wont get tricked by his false information.

Khizr A.S credited all his actions to Allah S.W.T’s

from their true faith.

The job of a servant is to obey his master. We humans are created by our master, Allah, to live a life in His
obedience. And by doing so, we fulfill the purpose of our creation.

Generally, doing right thing that we are supposed We as a human being, have two choices:
to do is always a source of high value and honor. • To be an Abd of Allah

Because beauty and enjoyment of this world will end soon and punishment will be
