Subject: Invitation to the ARF Workshop on Sustainable Fisheries Management and Food
Security in Bangkok, Thailand, 13-14 March 2018

Dear Colleagues,

As approved by the 24th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila, on August 7,
2017, the Kingdom of Thailand, the People’s Republic of China, and the United States of America have
the honor to co-chair the ARF Workshop on Sustainable Fisheries Management and Food Security
in Bangkok, Thailand, 13-14 March 2018.

Sustainable management of Southeast Asia’s fisheries, including both near-shore and highly migratory
fish stocks, requires effective domestic policies and legislation to manage resources within each state’s
exclusive economic zone, as well as regional cooperation and commitment to implement regional
strategies and ensure effective enforcement. This workshop aims to make a substantive contribution to
encouraging greater regional dialogue and cooperation on Sustainable Fisheries Management in the
Asia-Pacific region.

ARF representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fisheries and Environmental Departments,
environmental institutes, think tanks, and other relevant entities are invited to participate in this
workshop. Please note we are only able to accommodate 45 participants total for this workshop.

An invitation package, including the provisional agenda, administrative arrangements, and registration
form, will be circulated in due course.
