CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

Absent Work:
It is the responsibility of the student to get make-up work and turn it in by the given time. When completed, make up work
should be shown to the teacher or turned in on Pearson or Google Classroom.
Don’t forget to turn in any assignments that were due the day you were absent.

Homework: Students are expected to attempt all problems and show all work. The work should be neat and well-
organized. The work must be completed in pencil; any assignments completed in a pen will result in a zero. Homework
will be graded in a variety of ways (further explained on “Assignments and Grading” page).
Late Work:
Late work will not be accepted on completion assignments. Assignments taken for a grade will be accepted however,
each day that the assignment is late will result in 2 points deducted.

Extra Credit:
Extra credit can be purchased at the end of each quarter using math money earned throughout the quarter.

Communication:
The easiest way to contact me is by email: goodrigl@norwalktruckers.net
I can be reached by phone before school, during my conference period, or after school.

Extra Help for Students:

Our scheduled Zoom meeting time is Wednesday each week from 11:00-11:30. Communicate with me if you are in need
of additional help and we can work out a time that will accommodate both parties.

Parental Support:
Parental awareness, support and involvement are crucial to the success of your child, so please be sure you know what
is expected and ask about your child’s classes. Even if you don’t think you can help, showing concern is a big deal to a
child! ProgressBook (our online grading system) is available on a regular basis for parents and students to check on
grades as well as assignments via https://parentaccess.noeca.org/
Passwords and usernames are the same as last year; if needed, please contact the office for login and password
information so you can monitor your child’s progress. I look forward to partnering with you this year in educating your
child. Keeping in touch is very important to me, and I encourage you to do so! Please feel free to contact me by email
(goodrigl@norwalktruckers.net) or phone(419-668-8370) when you have any questions or concerns.

ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING

Mathematics is a SKILL that needs to be developed. Just like playing a sport or an instrument, in order to improve,
one has to get sufficient practice. Assignments will be given daily to provide opportunities to build mathematical thought
processes and skills. My expectation is that ALL students will be able to complete the assignments. Homework is a
learning process of trial and error and should be completed in pencil. Students will be expected to get out last night’s
homework upon arriving at their desk in preparation for the days grading method. After the homework answers have been
given, I will always ask for any questions. Students should ask questions about the problems that they missed or gave
them difficulty. The following assignment types will be given this school year:

Completion Assignments (4 points)

4 points: Student legitimately tried every problem, with evidence of work, even if there are errors
2 points: At least half of the problems are completed. This means even if one problem is not attempted.
0 points: Homework has less than half completed, no work is shown, or assignment is not completed in pencil.

Graded Assignments (10 points)

As mentioned above, mathematics is a skill and the practice is not always perfect. When assignments are taken for a
grade, I will use this grading to arrive at your score. This allows you to receive full credit even if you make a few mistakes!!

90%-100% = 10 points 70%-79% = 8 points 50%-59% = 6 points 30%-39% = 4 points 10%-19% = 2 points
80%-89% = 9 points 60%-69% = 7 points 40%-49% = 5 points 20%-29% = 3 points 1%- 9% = 1 point

Summative Assessments
The goal of a summative assessment is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit. These assessments
will range in point values.
