Addictions
• Addiction is a condition in which a
person engages in use of a substance or
in a behavior for which the rewarding
effects provide a compelling incentive
to repeatedly pursue the behavior
despite detrimental consequences.
• Types of addiction:
• Shopping Addiction
• Chemical or substance addiction: to
tobacco and alcohol
• Mania for stereotypes
• Behavioral addictions: New technologies
Shopping Addiction
• Shopping addiction is defined as the
deficiency of impulse control which
appears as the eagerness for
constantly making new purchases of
unnecessary or superfluous things. It is
a concept similar to "compulsive buying
disorder" and "oniomania", although
these terms usually have a more
clinical approach, related to a
psychological individual disorder of
impulse control. The phrase “shopping
addiction” usually has a more
psychosocial perspective.

New Technologies
According to the World Health Organization
(WHO) addiction is a physical and psycho-
emotional disease that creates a
dependency or need to a substance,
activity or relationship. Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) are the
set of technologies developed to manage
information and send it from one place to
another. The most widespread and daily
use: Internet and mobile phones.
Therefore, the addiction to ICT is defined
as its compulsive, repetitive and
prolonged use with inability to control or
interrupt its consumption and with
consequences on health, social, family,
school or work life
Global Statistics.
The use of ICT by the
population aged 16 to 74
reveals that 76.2% use the
Internet, with frequent
users 93.5% and intensive
users (daily) 60%. 51.1% of
this age group access

young people between 16 and
24 years of age the most
participative(91.3%). 73.7%
