Ba sed o n the H ATT- Mk III cabine t a nd woo fer, the or iginal Se as twee te r ha s bee n repla ced by a cer ami c ve rsio n. Thi s r esulte d in a
to tal re vi si on of the cr ossov er a nd a ne w damping ma te ria l pla n but the end r esult was ce rta inly wo rth the effor t.

Th e t weeter

The Thie l & P artne r C2-12/6 is a Fe rr o flui d fil le d twe et er with a 25 m m li ghtwe ight concav e ce ra mic dome . Designed for 3-wa y
syste ms o r smal l, lo w-o utput 2-wa y de signs. Ve ry hi gh re solutio n and v er y go od di sper si on up to 42 kH z. L ow re sona nce fre que ncy
a llo ws fi rst o rder filte ring a nd a cro sso ve r fr equency as l ow a s 2 k H z. The ultra ha rd cer amic do me mate ri al mov es l ike a piston

The Sea s L12R CYP -H 1207. It ’s a 4.5" mi ni wo o fe r with a stiff and sta ble inje ction mo ulde d me tal chassis. The stiff, ye t light

cabine ts shown on the pi ctur es have additi ona l woo de n side- pa nels for the lo ok s. The edge s o f the cabine t a re r oute d with 10m m's
ra di us for lo ok s a nd to re mo ve the sha rp e dges that would ca use ba ffle diffractio n pro bl ems – the dra wing shows the minimum
re qui re d: a 45 de gr ee a ngl e on the ve rti ca l edge s of the fro nt baffle. The r efle x po rt is m ade fr om 40mm thick-wa lle d P VC sewe r
pipe w ith a length o f 130mm.

a nice he av y ba cking tha t adds mass to the enclo sur e. No o ther dam ping m ate ria l at al l is used. This r esults in a go od bass weight
consider ing the size o f the wo ofe r and cabine t wi th goo d dy nam ic capa bil itie s. The i nte rna l vo lume is onl y 4,5 litr es and the
bass-re flex po rt is tune d to 62Hz giv ing sufficie nt o utput do wn to a bout 55H z.

It use s a co mbi natio n o f a fir st a nd a second-o rder se rie s-filte r. F irst or de r on the twe ete r and se cond or de r on the wo ofer due to
the e xtra inductor L2 befor e the wo ofer – this co mpe nsate s the baffl e- ste p. The e xtr a compone nts a re the r esistor s to ta me the
twe ete r and a Z obel netwo rk to co mpensate the inductiv e ri se of the wo ofe rs v oi ce -co il. P ar all el a cr oss the woo fe r is a n
LCR- netwo rk tha t cuts o ut the reso nance due to cone bre ak- up and giv es a sm oo th r oll -o ff a bove the cr ossov er poi nt wi th the
twe ete r. The criti ca l inducto rs a re air co re ty pe using l ar ge gauge coppe r fo il for bette r ima gi ng and deta il com pa red to standard
a ir- co re s. The ca pa ci tor s use high- gr ade me tall ed pol ypro py lene fo il and the thi ck fil m resisto rs ha ve minimum to ler ance. The
twe ete r is co nne cted wi th r ev er se d pola ri ty.

Meas uremen ts

Output le ve l 200- 20.000H z – hor izo ntal divi si on 5dB. Goo d line ar ity withi n +/ - 1,5dB , the drop towa rds the lo wer e nd is due to
the me asure me nt being do ne in fre e -ai r (so no bounda ry r e- enfor ceme nt) – ty pi ca l in roo m re sponse i s down to about 60Hz .
Cr ossov er poi nt a t 2 kH z.

Impedance plot 20-20.000H z, ho ri zonta l div isio n 1 ohms, a nd ra nge 0- 24 o hms. No te the por t tuning fre que ncy just abov e 60Hz.
The impedance pe a k just be low the cro sso ve r po int can be co mpe nsate d with an LCR-ne twor k pa ra lle l acro ss the input te rmi nals.

Str aight o ut of the box , the se ha rd-co ne dr ive rs sound cold, clo sed-in and l ack bass a nd dy nam ics. Give the m at le ast about fo ur to
six we ek s o f nor ma l l istening be fo re the y open up. The burn-i n per iod ca n be shor tene d by fe eding them decent le ve ls o f pink
noi se or F M ra dio i nter -statio n no ise . After this bur n-in pe ri od The HATT-Mk III-C can be st be described as a ve ry cohe re nt, cle an
a nd sm oo th sounding lo udspea ke r. The ba ss is light-wei ght and " quick ", v ar ying the dista nce to a re ar -wal l ca n be used to ba lance
the bass-we ight to per so nal ta ste . C omple tely fr ee -standing they ca n be a l ittle l ea n but I found the best results with them about
30cm fro m the re ar -wal l. The midra nge is clea r and flo ws se aml ess i nto the cl ea r and cla m tre ble . M icro -deta iling i s v ery go od a s i s
spa tia l info rma tio n. The Accuto n twe ete r costs m or e than the Se as t wee ter fro m the HATT- Mk III but i n my e a rs, is re all y wor th the
