Q/ How many types of bone cells? Write about one of them.
1- Osteoblasts cells 2- Osteoclasts cells Osteoblasts are mononucleated cells responsible for the synthesis and secretion of the macromolecular organic constituents of bone matrix. These cells are derived from osteoprogenitor cells of mesenchymal origin, which are present in the bone marrow and other connective tissues. Periosteum also serves as an important reservoir of osteoblasts, particularly during childhood growth, after skeletal fractures or with bone forming tumors. Osteoblasts produce the extracellular matrix, osteoid. As the osteoblasts form the bone matrix, they get entrapped within the matrix they secrete, and are called osteocytes. The number of osteoblasts that become osteocytes, depends on the rapidity of bone formation.
