A Second Chance graphic novel is a resource
to help you teach students to examine the
impact of colonialism on Indigenous peoples
and explore opportunities for reconciliation.

A Second Chance graphic novel introduces readers


to Gladue rights for Indigenous peoples. These legal
rights address the fact that colonialism continues
to affect Indigenous peoples, both in their everyday
lives and in the justice system.

The teacher’s guide to the graphic novel:

Gladue rights and explains their relationship
to relevant learning intentions in BC’s
redesigned curriculum for grades 10 to 12

• guides you in using A Second Chance graphic


novel to meet relevant learning intentions

• guides you in meeting learning intentions


relevant to the topic of Gladue rights
