1.5 Speak using correct grammar

Kekuatan:
 Proficient candidates had no problem with these two aspects. Most of them were able
to speak and converse using grammatically correct sentences. Errors were just limited
to slips of the tongue and were self corrected instantly.

Kelemahan:
 Weak candidates mainly resorted to simple or compound sentences to play safe as they
have no confidence in using more complex structures. This reflects as if there was no
incremental knowledge of English after their eleven years of learning the language in
school.
 They made a lot of grammatical errors which affect the flow of the ideas.

Kesilapan:

 In Form 4 and Form 5, candidates still made basic grammar errors as follows:

a) Pronoun errors:

- My father works in an office. She is a clerk.

- … we enjoy ourself at the beach.
- My sister introduce his friend to me.
- Juana is a good wife. He always wake up early to prepare breakfast to Kino.

b) Subject-Verb agreement errors:

- They does not like reading.

- She like to read books.
- The doctor do not help him.
- I just loves the wind.

c) Tense errors:

- Last week I go to my uncle’s house.

- Mathilde is sad because she had lost the necklace.
- During the school holiday, we enjoy ourself at Bukit Merah Lake Town.
