You are on page 1of 2

1) Merge content of folder 1 with your C:/Program Files

There should be 2 directories set like that:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Helper
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt

2) Copy Standalone and plugins files:

-If you use aax, Kontakt.aaxplugin folder should be under C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

-Copy .exe where you like. Default .exe path is:

C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt\Kontakt.exe

-copy .dll to your vstplugins own/custom directory. Default vst paths are:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\Native Instruments\Kontakt.dll
C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\Native Instruments\Kontakt.dll

3) Run "Kontakt 6 for.cmd"

This simple batch file will add Kontakt paths to registry, and make Add Library.exe
run as admin.

* If you choose different locations than "default" ones, open .cmd in any text
editor, change paths with your own paths, save and run.
Or, run (default/unchanged) .cmd and then edit registry directly there:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt Application.
Note: You can also delete values/lines (in .cmd or in registry) for plugins
versions you won't use (aax, or 32bit for example)

**You can also put "Add Library.exe" file anywhere you like, as it can be run in
standalone.
To be able to open Add Library.exe from within Kontakt in case you changed its
default location, open (default) .cmd with any text editor,
replace default path with your own "Add Library.exe" path, save and run.
Or, run (default/unchanged) .cmd, then edit "ExecutablePath" value (to put your own
"Add Library.exe" path) in registry here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native
Instruments\ALSupport
and change C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt\Add Library.exe
value (with your own "Add Library.exe" path) there:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
But, anyway, the easiest is to let it in its default place, and make a shortcut if
you need standalone Add Library.exe.
Note: "Run as admin" flag can also be set manually: right click on Add
Library.exe/properties/compatibility/run as administrator.

***Final note: Kontakt and (standalone) Add Library.exe work from scratch without
the need of any registry value, in fact.
The only two things really needed are the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native
Instruments\ALSupport, to be able to call Add Library.exe from within Kontakt
(otherwise Kontakt can't find it)
And the run as admin flag for Add Library.exe (adding library only works if ran as
admin).

***Fix Note: It seems Add library was not working inside DAW (kontakt.dll) for
everyone, it's because wrong key is called by 64bit .dll: ALSuppotr instead of
ALSupport (yeah, really).
So I just added this one too (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Native
Instruments\ALSuppotr) to the reg keys command.
