EQUIPMENT OVERHEAT THERMAL SWITCHES — ADJUSTMENT / TEST


1. Equipment Overheat Thermal Switch — Operational Test
A. Preparation
SPECIAL TOOLS AND TEST EQUIPMENT

NOTE: Either thermometer may be used to check the trip point of the thermal switches.

(2) Aircraft Preparation
(a) Prepare aircraft for safe ground maintenance. See Safe Ground Maintenance
Procedure, 20-00-00, Maintenance Practices.
(3) Ensure the following Circuit Breakers (CB) are depressed:

(4) Remove interior furnishings and carpeting as required to gain access to floorboards being
removed.
(5) Remove floor heater mats, if installed. See Supplemental Heating - Removal / Installation,
25-27-00, Removal / Installation or Code 252070.
(6) Gain access to thermal switch by removing the following access covers and / or floorboards
as required (see Figure 501 and Figure 502):
NOTE: The table provides the standard production location of the overheat thermal
switches. The switches may have been relocated during aircraft outfitting to monitor
additional equipment.

(7) Apply electrical power to aircraft. See External Electrical Power Application, 20-20-10,
Maintenance Practices.
(8) On MFD DISPLAY SWITCHING and DISPLAY SYSTEM CONTROL panels, select all
switches to NORM.
B. Procedure
NOTE: The switches close at approximately 150° ±5°F (65° ±5°C) and open at approximately
135° ±5°F (57° ±5°C).
(1) Select and hold EQPT OVHT switch.
NOTE: The EQPT OVHT switch is located in the SYSTEM TEST section of the cockpit
overhead panel.
(2) Verify the following messages are displayed on CAS:
(a) L Pylon Hot (red)
(b) R Pylon Hot (red)
(c) L Aft Floor Hot (red)
(d) C Aft Floor Hot (red)
(e) R Aft Floor Hot (red)
(f) Aft Equipment Hot (red)
(3) Release EQPT OVHT switch.
CAUTION: EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE USED WHEN USING THE HEAT GUN.
EXCESSIVE HEAT COULD DAMAGE THE SWITCHES.
(4) Using heat gun, heat applicable thermal switch until switch closes, then verify switch trip point
using thermometer. Remove heat source as soon as switch closes.
NOTE: If switch is not operating within range, ensure to verify part number with IPC before
replacing.
(5) Verify applicable message is displayed on CAS. See Table 501.

(6) Pull applicable circuit breaker and verify message is no longer displayed on CAS. See Table
501.
C. Follow On
(1) Depress circuit breaker pulled in Step 1.B.(6).
(2) On MFD DISPLAY SWITCHING and DISPLAY SYSTEM CONTROL panels, select all
switches to post flight position.
(3) Remove electrical power from aircraft. See External Electrical Power Application, 20-20-10,
Maintenance Practices.
(4) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(5) If floorboard was removed in Step 1.A.(6), perform Floorboard Clip Nut - Check, 53-00-00,
Inspection / Check or Code 530027.
(6) Perform Open / Close - Checks, 20-00-00, Maintenance Practices.
(7) Install access panels and / or floorboards removed in Step 1.A.(6).
(8) Install floor heater mats removed in Step 1.A.(5). See Supplemental Heating - Removal /
Installation, 25-27-00, Removal / Installation or Code 252070.
(9) Install carpeting and interior furnishings removed in Step 1.A.(4).
(10) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.

(7) Apply electrical power to aircraft. See External Electrical Power Application, 20-20-10,
Maintenance Practices.
(8) On MFD DISPLAY SWITCHING and DISPLAY SYSTEM CONTROL panels, select all
switches to NORM.
B. Procedure
NOTE: The switches close at approximateley 250° ±5°F (121° ±5°C) and open at approximately
235° ±5°F (112° ±5°C).
(1) Select and hold EQPT OVHT switch.
NOTE: The EQPT OVHT switch is located in the SYSTEM TEST section of the cockpit
overhead panel.
(2) Verify the following messages are displayed on CAS:
(a) L Pylon Hot (red)
(b) R Pylon Hot (red)
(c) L Aft Floor Hot (red)
(d) C Aft Floor Hot (red)
(e) R Aft Floor Hot (red)
(f) Aft Equipment Hot (red)
(3) Release EQPT OVHT switch.
CAUTION: EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN USING THE HEAT GUN.
EXCESSIVE HEAT COULD DAMAGE THE SWITCHES.
(4) Using heat gun, heat applicable thermal switch until switch closes, then verify switch trip point
using thermometer. Remove heat source as soon as switch closes.
NOTE: If switch is not operating within range, ensure to verify part number with IPC before
replacing.
(5) Verify applicable message is displayed on CAS. See Table 502.
(6) Pull applicable circuit breaker and verify message is no longer displayed on CAS. See Table
502.
C. Follow On
(1) Depress circuit breaker pulled in Step 2.B.(6).

(2) On MFD DISPLAY SWITCHING and DISPLAY SYSTEM CONTROL panels, select all
switches to OFF.
(3) Remove electrical power from aircraft. See External Electrical Power Application, 20-20-10,
Maintenance Practices.
(4) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(5) Perform Floorboard Clip Nut - Check, 53-00-00, Inspection / Check or Code 530027.
(6) Perform Open / Close - Checks, 20-00-00, Maintenance Practices.
(7) Install floorboards removed in Step 2.A.(6).
(8) Install floor heater mats removed in Step 2.A.(5). See Supplemental Heating - Removal /
Installation, 25-27-00, Removal / Installation or Code 252070.
(9) Install carpeting and interior furnishings removed in Step 2.A.(4).
(10) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.

(3) Release EQPT OVHT switch.


CAUTION: EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE USED WHEN USING THE HEAT GUN.
EXCESSIVE HEAT COULD DAMAGE THE SWITCHES.
(4) Using heat gun, heat applicable thermal switch until switch closes, then verify switch trip point
using thermometer. Remove heat source as soon as switch closes. See Table 503.
NOTE: If switch is not operating within range, ensure to verify part number with IPC before
replacing.

(5) Close access opened in Step 3.A.(4).
(6) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
