Question 1.
a).Fishbone Diagram.
- Are mainly used in quality management fault-detection an In business process improvement,
especially in manufacturing and production, but the model is also very useful in project and tasks
management generally.

Merits
1. It helps you identify the root cause of the problem.
2. It helps you find ways to improve the process.
3. It is easy to understand and analyze because of being visual tool.
4. It helps you locate bottlenecks in the process.

Demerits
1. It is based on opinion rather than evidence.
2. It does not single out the root cause of the problem because all causes look equally
important.
3. This process democratically selects the cause, which is not an effective process.
4. If discussion is not controlled, you could get incorrect results.

b). Gantt charts.


- These are the type of charts(bars) that illustrates a project schedule and its a useful project
management tool.

Merits
1. It(should) help you to set realistic time frames.
2. It can be highly visible.
3. It creates a picture of complexity.
4. It demonstrates that you know what you are doing.

Demerits
1. They need to be constantly updated.
2. Difficult to see on one sheet of paper.
3. The size of the bar does not indicate the amount of work.
4. They can become extraordinarily complex.
Question 2.
a). Resource Levelling Technique.
- Cutting the delivery time or avoiding under or over-utilization of resources by making adjustments
with the schedule or resources is called resource leveling heuristics.
- Dividing the tasks as per the available resources, so that no resource is under or over-utilized. The
only demerit of this methodology is it may increase the project’s cost and time.

b) Simulation.
- The expected duration of the project is calculated by using a different set of tasks in simulation.
The schedule is created on the basis of assumptions, so it can be used even if the scope is changed
or the tasks are not clear enough.
