 Introduction

Praise be to Allah and peace and blessings be upon the

Messenger of Allah and on his family and all his companions.

Teaching about Islamis one of the best deeds with God. The
more the learner applies what you taught him, you’ll be
rewarded by God equally to him.

In Saheeh Muslim, Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with

him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
said: “If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward
will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness)
without their reward being diminished in any respect.

Therefore, the teacher must aim to get closer to Allah by this

work in order to please Him and gain His paradise.

 Teaching Methodology

1. The Arab teacher reads out the lesson in front of the local
teachers three times in a clear voice and slowly.

2. The Arab teacher reads out each paragraph three times

while the local teachers repeat after him each time.

3. The Arab teacher explains the lesson while a translator

translates for those non-Arabic speaking teachers.

4. The Arab teacher reads out each paragraph three times

while they repeat after him again.

5. Each one reads out the lesson while the teacher corrects him
so that he masters reading.

6. Concerning ablution, prayer, and call for prayer lessons, the

Arab teacher performs each of them practically in front of
them, and then they do the same one by one.

7. The local teacher delivers the lesson to his students the

same way delivered to him.

 1. Entering the Lavatory Supplication

Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet
(peace be upon him) on entering the lavatory used to say: “O
Allah, I seek refuge with You from devils – males and females
(or all offensive and wicked things, evil deeds and evil spirits,
etc.” (Reported by Al Bokhary and Moslem)

2. Coming out of the Lavatory Supplication

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that when the
Prophet, peace be upon him, came out of the lavatory, he used
to say “O Allah! Grant me Your forgiveness” (Reported and
graded as Sahih by Al Tormizi).
3. Distress Supplication

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him” narrated that Allah’s
Apostle, may peace be upon him, used to supplicate during the
time of trouble in these words:

“There is no god but Allah the Incomparably Great, the

Compassionate, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the
Magnificent Throne, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the
Heaven and the earth, the Lord of the Edifying Throne.”

 4. Pre-Sexual Intercourse Supplication

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet,
peace be upon him, said, “If anyone intends to have sexual intercourse
with his wife, he should say: “In the Name of Allah, O, Allah! Keep us away
from Satan and keep Satan away from what You have bestowed upon us”,
and if Allah has ordained a child for them, Satan will never harm him.
(Reported by Sahih Al Bokhary and SahihMoslim)

5. How to Respond Greeting of Disbeliever if

He Greets

Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said the Messenger of Allah, peace
be upon him said, “When the People of the Book greet you (i.e., by saying
“As-SamuAlaikum” meaning death be upon you), you should respond with:
Waalaikum (the same on you (i.e., and death will be upon you, for no one
will escape death)”. (Reported by Al Bokhary and Moslim)

6. Supplication When Hearing Crowing of A

Cook and Braying of A Donkey

Abu Huraira narrated that Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, said
“When you hearcrowing of a cook, ask Allah for His favor as it sees Angels
and when you hear braying of a donkey, seek refuge in Allah from the
Satan for it sees Satan”.

 7.Merits of Mentioning How Perfect Allah is, Praising Him and
Saying No God but Allah

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, please be upon him, said, “Whoever says a hundred
times, “How perfect Allah is and I praise Him, his sins will be forgiven
though they may be as much as the foam of the sea. (Reported by Sahih
Al Bokhary and SahihMoslim)

8. Witnessing that No God but Allah and Muhammad is His

Messenger

Abd Allah ibnMasoud narrated that: We were saying greetings in prayers,

say in the name of Allah, and greet each other. When the Prophet heard
that, he taught us to say: “Compliments, prayers, and pure words are due
to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and his
blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear
witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and I bear
witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.” He added, if you
say that you greet each righteous slave in heaven and earth.

9. Morning Supplication

Huzaifah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that

when the Prophet, peace upon him, went to bed, he used
to say, “O, Allah, in Your Name I die and I live; and when
he would wake up, he would say: “Praise is due to Allah
who revived my soul after causing its death and to Him is
the resurrection.

 10.Prostration Supplication

Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said that the Prophet
(peace be upon him) used to recite frequently in his bowing and
prostration; “O Allah! Glorified be You, You are free from
imperfection, and all the praises are for You. O Allah, forgive
me)”.

11.Supplication When It Rains

Aisha narrated, may Allah be pleased with her, that when the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saw rain, he would say:
O Allah, let it be a strong fruitful rain and a beneficial
downpour”. (Reported by Al Bokhary)

12.Supplication When Sneezing

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Prophet, peace be upon him said: “When one of you sneezes,
he should say: “Praise be to Allah”, and his brother or his
companion should say to him: “May Allah have mercy on you”.
When he says this he should reply: “May Allah guide you and

 13. Supplication for Ascending and Descending

Al-Bokhary narrated from Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him,said: When
we ascended (a height) we would proclaim: “Allah is Greatest),” and when
we descended (from the height) we would proclaim: “O Allah! Glorified be
You, You are free from imperfection)”.

14. Prompting the Dying

Abu Sa‟id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon you, “Exhort those who are on their
death bed to say: There is no true god except Allah”

15. Supplication When Wind Blows

Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that whenever the wind
below strongly, the Prophet, peace be upon him, say: O Allah, I beg of You
its good and the good of that which it contains and the good of the purpose
for which it has been sent; and I seek Your Refuge from its evil and the evil
of that which it contains and the evil of the purpose for which it has been
sent”. (Reported by Moslim)

16. Supplication When Going to A Place

Khaulabint Hakim Sulamiyya, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I

heared Allah‟s Messenger, may peace be upon him, as saying: When
anyone of you stays at a place, he should say: “I seek refuge in the Perfect
Word of Allah from the evil of that He created”. Nothing would then do
him any harm until he moves from that place.

 17. Promoting Greetings

Abu Hurrairah, May Allah be pleased with him, said that the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, said, “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You
will not enter paradise until you believe, and you shall not believe until
you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love
each other? Promote greeting amongst you. (Narrated by Moslim)

18. Supplication When Finishing Eating

Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari: When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
ate or drank, he said: “Praise be to Allah Who has given food and drink and
made it easy to swallow, and provided an exit for it.”

19. Supplication When Burying A Deceased

Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated: When the Prophet
put the deceased in the grave, He said: In the Name of Allah, by His
command and upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah”. (Reported by

20. Supplication When Breaking Fasting

Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased by them, narrated that the

Prophet, peace be upon him, said when he broke his fasting: Thirst
has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure if Allah

21. Supplication When Hearing the Barking of Dogs and

Braying of Asses

Jabir ibnAbd Allah narrated that the Messenger of God, peace be upon him,
said: “If you hear the barking of dogs or braying of asses, seek refuge with
Allah because they see what you don‟t see.” (Reported by AbiDawud and
rated Sahih by Al Albany)

22. Supplication for the Sick

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that the Prophet,
peace be upon him, said: “There is no Muslim worshiper who visits one
who is ill – other than at the time of death – and he says seven times: I ask
Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne to cure you” except
when he will be cured.”

23. Supplication between the Two Prostrations

IbnAbas, may Allah be pleased by them, narrated that between the

two prostrations, the Prophet, peace be upon him, would say: O,
Allah! Pardon me, have mercy on me, help me, guide me, and

Talha binUbaid Allah, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated

that at the sight of the new moon )of the lunar month), the
Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “O Allah, let this moon appear
on us with blessings, faith, safety, security, and Islam. O moon,
your god and mine is Allah.” (Reported and rated Sahih by Al

Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that the

Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said “When any of you
wants to eat, he should mention the Name of Allah in the
beginning. If he forgets to do so in the beginning, he should say
I begin with the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end.”

Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Jews used to intentionally sneeze in the presence of the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, hoping that he would
say to them: “may Allah have mercy on you”, but he would
respond with: “may Allah guide you and render sound your state

May Allah bless you and bestow blessings upon you, and bring you

29. Supplications for Who Makes you A Favor

Usamah bin Zaid, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “He who is
favored by another and says to his benefactor: may Allah reward
you well.” Indeed praised the benefactor satisfactorily.” (Reported
and rated Sahih by Al Tormizi)

Reported by al-Tirmizi( 1958) and said good- strange,then related from Al-Makki bin
Ibrahim said we were at the house of bin GreehAl Makki when a beggar came asking for
money, so bin Greeh asked his safe keeper to give him one dinar, the safe keeper said we
only have one dinar and if I give him I and your children will starve. Bin Gareeh became
angry and said “give it to him”. While we were at his house, a man came with a letter and
a money parcel from one of his brothers. The letter says “I have sent you fifty dinars”. So
bin Greeh opened the parcel and counted the dinars and found them fifty one dinars, so he
told his safe keeper: “You had given away one dinar, God returned it back to you and
increased it by fifty dinars more”.

Ibn Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them,

narrated that when a man was to set out on a journey, Abdullah
bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, would say to him:
“Draw near so that I may bid farewell to you as Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, used to say: “I entrust Allah with your
religion, your trust, and your last deeds.” (Reported and rated

News

Abu Bakrah narrated that when the Prophet, peace be upon him,
heard news that made him happy, or for which one should be
happy he would fall down prostrate in gratitude to Allah, the

32. What Is Said When Slaughtering

Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated: I

witnessed sacrificing along with the Messenger of Allah, peace
be upon him, at the place of prayer. When he finished his
sermon, he descended from his pulpit, and a ram was brought
to him. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him
slaughtered it with his hand, and said: In the name of Allah,
Allah is Most Great. This is from me and from those who did
not sacrifice from all Muslims.(Reported and rated Sahih by Al

 33. Supplications before Sleeping

Al-Bara‟ bin Azib, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, directed me thus: whenever you go
to bed, perform the ritual ablutionas you do for praying then (before
sleeping) recite: “O Allah I have submitted myself to You, I have turned
myself to You, committed my affairs to You and sought Your refuge for
protection out of desire for You and fear of You (expecting Your reward
and fearing Your punishment). There is no refuge and no place of safety
from You but with You. I believe in the Book You have revealed and in
the Prophetyou have sent, peace be upon him. The Messenger of Allah,
peace be upon him added: “If anyone recites these words and dies during
the night, he will die on the true religion, and if he remains alive till the
morning, he will obtain good, and make this supplication your last words
(before sleeping).” (Reported by Al Bokhary and Muslims)

34. Supplication When Returning Back From Travel

Abd Allah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that
Whenever Allah‟s Apostle returned from a battle, pilgrimage, or small
pilgrimage, he used to say „God is the Greatest” thrice at every elevation of
the ground and then would say, “None has the right to be worshipped but
Allah; He is One and has no partner. All the kingdoms is for Him, and all
the praises are for Him, and He is Omnipotent. We are returning with
repentance, worshipping, prostrating, and praising our Lord. He has kept us
His promise and made His slave victorious, and He Alone defeated all the
clans of nonbelievers.

 35. Supplication at the Beginning of Praying

Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s Apostle,
peace be upon him, used to keep silent between the opening Takbir
(Saying God is the Greatest at the beginning of praying) and the recitation
of Qur’an and that interval of silence used to be a short one. I said to the
Prophet “May my parents be sacrificed for you! What do you say in the
pause between the opening Takbir and recitation?” The Prophet said, “I
say, “O Allah! Set me apart from my sins as the East and West are set
apart from each other and clean me from sins as a white garment is
cleaned of dirt (after thorough washing). O Allah! Wash off my sins with
water, snow, and hail.” (Reported by Al Bokhary)

36. Supplication for Seeking Guidance from Allah

Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, used to teach us the prayers for seeking
guidance from Allah in all matters as he would teach us a Surah of the Holy
Quran. HE used to say: “When one of you contemplates entering upon an
enterprise, let him perform two Rak’ah(prayer unit) of optionalprayer,
other than the imposed five prayers, and then supplicate: “O Allah, I
consult You through Your Knowledge, and I seek strength through Your
Power, and ask of Your Great Bounty; for You are Capable whereas I am
not and, You know and I do not, and You are the Knower of hidden things.
O Allah, if You know that this matter (and name it) is good for me in
respect of my religion, my livelihood and the consequences of my affairs,
(or he said), the sooner or the later of my affairs then ordain it for me,
make it easy for me, and bless it for me. But if You know this matter (and
name if) to be bad for my religion, my livelihood or the consequences of
my affairs (or he said) the soon or the later of my affairs then turn it away
from me, and turn me away from it, and grant me power to do good
whatever it may be, and cause me to be contented with it). And let the
supplicant specify the object.” (Reported by Al Bokhary and Moslim)

 37. Morning and Night Supplications

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “He who utters a hundred
times in a day these words: “there is no true god except Allah. He is One
and He has no partner with Him; His is the sovereignty and His is the
praise, and He is Omnipotent”, he will have a reward equivalent to that for
emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his
credit, hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll, and he will be
safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will
exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except someone who has
recited these words more often than him. And he who utters: “Allah is
free from imperfection and His is the praise” one hundred times a day, his
sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of
the ocean.” (Reported by Al Bokhary and Moslim)

38. Seeking Refuge with Allah

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that the Prophet
used to seek Rrefuge with Allah for Al-Hassan and Al-Husain and say: “Your
forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ismael and
Issac by reciting the following: “O Allah I seek Refuge with Your Perfect
Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil,
harmful envious eye.”

39. Supplication After Ablution

Uqbah bin Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s
Messenger, peace be upon him, said, “If one after performing ablution
completely recites the following supplication: “I testify that there is no one
worthy of worship but Allah, He is Alone and has no partner and
Muhammad, peace be upon him, his slave and Messenger” all the eight
gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter through any
gate he wishes.” (Reported by Moslim)

 40. Supplication for Entering the House

Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated saying: I heard Messenger
of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, “If a person mentions the Name of
Allah upon entering his house or eating, Satan says, addressing his
followers: “You will find nowhere to spend the night and no dinner.” But if
he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his
followers); “You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does
not mention the Name of Allah the time of eating, Satan says: “You have
found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food.” (Reported by
Moslim)

41. Supplication for Entering the Mosque

Abu Humaid say: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: “When
anyone of you enters the mosque, let him say: O Allah, open to me the
gates of your mercy), and when he leaves let him say: “O Allah, I ask You of
Your bounty.”(Reported by Moslim)

42. Supplications When Hearing Calls for Prayers

Abdullah bin Amro bin Al A’as, may Allah be pleased with them, said that
the Messenger of Allah, peace upon him, said: “If you hear the caller for
prayers, then say as he says. Then send prayers upon me, because
whoever sends prayers upon me, Allah will send prayer upon him ten
times due to it. Then ask Allah that He gives me Al-Wasila, because it is a
place in Paradise which is not for anyone except for a salve from the slaves
of Allah, and I hope that I am him, and whoever asks that I have Al-
Wasilah, then my intercession will be made lawful for him.” (Reported by

 43. Supplications after the Final Tashahoud before
Ending Prayer

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace upon him, said “When anyone of you has done
his Tashahhud during prayers, he should seek refuge in Allah against four
things and say: (O Allah I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell; from
the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the
mischief of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal (Antichrist).”(Reported by Moslim)

44. Supplications After Every Prayer

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “He who recites after every
prayer: (Allah is free from imperfections thirty-three times; (Praise be to
Allah) thirty-three times; Allah is Greatest” thirty-three times; and
completes the hundred with (there is no true god except Allah. He is One
and He has no partner with Him. His is the sovereignty and His is the
praise, and He is Omnipotent), will have all his sins pardoned even if they
may be as large as the foam on the surface of the sea.”(Reported by
Moslim)

45. Supplications When Seeing A Dream

Abu Qatada, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that that the Allah’s
Messenger, peace be upon him, said “The good vision are from Allah and
the evil dreams are from the Satan; so if one of you sees anything ina
dream which he dislikes, he should spit on his left side triceand seek
refuge with Allah from its evil, and then it will never harm him. Abu
Salama said: I used to see dreams weighing more heavily upon me, but
since I heard this hadith I don‟t care for it (its burden). (Reported by
Moslim)

 46. Supplication When Afflicted

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, said, “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah
than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you.
Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any
way, do not say: “If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such
and such.” but say only: “Allah so determined and did as He willed.” The word
“if” opens the gates of satanic thoughts”.(Reported by Moslim)

47. Supplications When Hit by a calamity

Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated: I heard the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, saying, “When a person suffers from a calamity and
utters: (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah! Compensate me
in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange
for it), then Allah surely compensate him with reward and better substitute.”
Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: When Abu Salamah, may
Allah be pleased with him, died I repeated the same supplication as the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had commanded me (to do). So Allah
bestowed upon me a better substitute than him (I was married to Muhammad,
the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.” (Reported by Moslim)

48. Supplications When Closing the Eyes of the

Deceased
Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that
the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, visited Abu
Salamah, may Allah be pleased with him, when his eyes were
open soon after he died. He closed them (the eyes) for him
and said, “When the soul is taken away, the sight follows it.”
Some members of his family began to weep. He, peace be
upon him, said: “Do not supplicate for yourselves anything but
good, for the angels say “amen” to what you say.” Then he
said, “O, Allah! Forgive Abu Salamah, raise his rank among
those who are rightly-guided and grant him a successor from
his descendants who remain behind. Grant him pardon and
us, too. O, Lord of the worlds, make his grave spacious for him
and give him light in it.” (Reported by Moslim)

 49. Supplications for the Deceased When Praying for
Him

Auf bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace upon him, offered the funeral prayer,
and I memorized this supplication (that he said for the deceased),
“O Allah! Forgive him and have mercy on him (on her); grant
him ease and respite; make his resting place a noble one; and
facilitate his entry; wash him with the most pure and clean water,
snow, and hail; purify him from sins as a white garment is
cleansed of dirt;give him in exchange a home better than his
home (on earth) and a family better than his family; Grant him
entrance to Paradise and protect him from the trials of the grave
and the torture of Hell Fire.” After hearing these supplications
of the Messenger of Allah, Auf bin Malik, may Allah be pleased
with him,said I wished I had been that dead man (Reported by
Moslim)

50. Supplications When Visiting Graveyards

Amerbin Al Haseef, may Allah be pleased with him, the

Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to teach them,
when they went out to the graveyard, to say: “O, inhabitants of
the abodes, believers and Muslims, and we will join you soon if
Allah wills. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.”

 51. Supplication When Setting Out On a Journey

Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said that whenever
Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, mounted his camel
while setting out on a journey, he glorified Allah (uttered Allah
is the Greatest) trice and then said: “Hallowed is He Who
subdued for us this (ride) and we were not ourselves powerful
enough to use it as a ride, and we are going to return to our
Lord. O, Allah, we seek virtue and piety from Thee in this
journey of ours and the act which pleasesYou. O, Allah, lighten
this journey of ours, and make its distance easy for us. O, Allah,
You are (our) companion during the journey and guardian of
(our) family). O, Allah, I seek refuge with You from hardships of
the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil
changes in property and family on return. Then, the Holy
Prophet uttered (these words), and made this addition to them:
We are returning, repentant, worshipping our Lord, and praising
Him. (Reported by Muslim)

52. What to Say He Who Suffers Pain in Body

Uthman bin Abu Al-As Al-Thaqafi, may Allah be pleased with

him, narrated that he made a complaint of pain to Allah’s
Messenger, peace be upon him, that he felt in his body at the
time he had become Muslim. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger,
peace be upon him, said: “Place your hand at the place where
you feel pain in your body and say “in the name of Allah) trice
and say “I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the
evil that I find and that I fear” seven times. (Reported by

 53. Supplication When Leaving the House
Anasibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that
the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: When a man goes out of
his house and says: “In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there
is no might and no power but in Allah,” the following will be
said to him at that time: “You are guided, defended, and
protected.” The devils will go far from him and another devil
will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided,
defended, and protected? (Reported by Al Tirmizi and

54. Supplication When Committing A Sin

Abu Bakr Al Sidik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: When a servant (of Allah)
commits a sin, and he performs ablution well, and then stands and prays
two rak’ahs, and asks pardon of Allah, Allah pardons him recited this verse:
“And those who, when they commit indecency or wrong their souls,
remember Allah” (Al-Qur’an 3:135).

 55.Supplication at Marriage or Buying New Things

Amr bin Shu’aib bin Abdullah ibnAmribn Al-As, may Allah be pleased with
them, said that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
If one of you marries a woman or buys a salve he should say: “O, Allah, I
ask You for the good in her and in the disposition You have given her; I
take refuge in You from the evil in her, and in the disposition You have
given her.” When he buys a camel, he should take hold of the top of its
hump and say the same kind of thing. (Reported and rated Good by

Amr bin Shu’aib narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: “When one of
you becomes frightened during sleep, then let him say: “I seek refuge in
Allah’s Perfect Words from His anger, His punishment, and the evil of His
creatures, from the whisperings of devils, and that they should come. For
verily they shall not harm him.(Reported and rated “Good” by Al Tirmizi)

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the
Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever sits in a sitting and engages in much
empty, meaningless speech and then says before getting from that sitting
of his: “Glory is to You, O, Allah, and praise, I bear witness that there is
none worthy of worship except You, I seek You forgiveness, and I repent to
you, whatever occurred in that sitting would be forgiven to

 58.Supplication When Riding

Ali bin Rabiah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated: In my presence, a
beast was brought to Ali bin Abu Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, for
riding. When he put his foot in the stirrup, he said “With the Name of
Allah).” When he had settled himself on its back he recited: “All praise
belongs to Allah Who has made this subservient to us, for we had not the
strength to overpower it; and to our Lord shall we return.” He then recited
thrice: (Praise be to Allah), and then (Allah is Greatest) trice”. Then he
said: “You are far removed from imperfection I have wronged myself, so
forgive me, because none but You can forgive sins).” Then he smiled It
was asked: “Why have you smiled, O leader of the believers? He replied:
“I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, doing as I have done. I
(i.e. Ali) asked him (the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him), the
reason for smiling. He, peace be upon him, said, “Your Lord, Glorious is
He, is pleased when His slave seeks His forgiveness. He (the salve) has
firm faith that none except Allah Alone can forgive sins.”

59.Supplication Upon Ending Witr Prayer

IbinAbd Al Rahman bin Abza from his father narrated that the Messenger
of Allah, peace upon him, used to recite in Witr: “Glorify the Name of your
Lord, the Most High;” and “Say: O you disbelievers!, and Say: He is Allah,
(the) One.” And when he said concluded the prayer (taslim), he would say:
Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) trice, raising his voice the third
time.”

 60.Supplications When Leaving the Mosque

Abu Hurairah narrated thatthe Messenger of Allah said: “When anyone of

you enters the mosque, let him send peace upon the Prophet, then let him
say: “O, Allah, open to me the gates of Your mercy.” And when he leaves,
let him send peace upon the Prophet and say: O, Allah, protect me from
the accursed devils.” (Reported by IbnMaga and rated as Sahih by Al
Albani)

Aishah, may Allah be pleased by her, narrated that when the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him,saw something he liked, he would say: “Praise is
to Allah by Whose grace good deeds are completed), and if he saw
something that he disliked, he would say: “Praise is to Allah in all
circumstances)”. (Reported and rated as “Good” by IbnMaga)

62.Supplications for Whoever was afflicted with grief and

distress

It is recorded in Musnad Ahmad and Sahih Abu Hatim on the Authority of

‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud that the messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
said, “Whoever was afflicted with grief and distress and says, (O Allah! I
am Your Servant, the son of Your Servant, the son of your Maid servant.
You have control over me. Your Judgment is executed on me. Your decree
on me is just. I ask you by each name of Yours by which You have called
yourself, revealed in your book, taught to any of Your servants, or kept as
a secret in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur’ân the
spring (delight) of my heart, the light of my chest, the eliminator of my
sorrow, and the remover of my worries)’ Allah, the Exalted and Ever-
Majestic, will remove his grief and will change his sorrow into happiness.”
Companions asked the Prophet, peace be upon him, don’t we learn this
supplication? He said whoever heard it should learn it.

 63.Supplications Against Envying Somebody

Abu UmamaibnSahlibnHunayfnarrated that his father, may

Allah be pleased with him, told him that the Prophet, peace
upon him, set out heading Mecca until they reached a defile
called “Al Kharar” at Al Gohfah where “Amir ibnRabia saw
SahlibnHunayf having a shower and said, “I have not seen the
like of what I see today, not even the skin of a maiden who has
never been out of doors”. Sahl fell to the ground. The
Messenger of Allah, peace upon him, was approached and it
was said, “Messenger of Allah, can you do anything about
SahlibnHunayf? By Allah, he can’t raise his head.” He said, “Do
you suspect anyone of it? They said, “We suspect Amir
ibnRabia.”
He continued, “The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
summoned Amir and was furious with him and said, “Why does
of you kill his brother? Why did you not say, “May Allah bless
you?” Have a shower for it.” Amir washed his face, hands,
elbows, knees, the end of his feet, and inside his lower garment
in a vessel. Then he poured it over him, and Sahl went off with
the people, and there was nothing wrong with him.” (Reported
by Ahmed)
