Stagecraft

Bunny Christie suggests designers write down details about each scene like characters, time period, events, and significant moments to fully understand the scene before starting design work. For research, she reads the script closely, taking notes on key parts of different scenes and getting others' perspectives. Model sets, being 3D and to scale, show the exact planned layout of the set, whereas drawn stage designs only depict a 2D representation. The document also lists characters and elements needed for the set design of a scene from Aladdin, including Aladdin, the Genie, waiters, dancers, a dark setting with spotlights, and hiding spots in a cave.
