There was a girl in Tondo, named Kikay. She used to
study Hair Culture and Beauty Science in New York.
After a year, she returned in the country bringing
New York with her manner, looks, style and her

C. Climax:
As she woke up, she immediately greeted her friends.
But all of a sudden the “Kikay” they knew was utterly
change. Upon conversation, she kept comparing things
and all those stuffs in New York and in Tondo.

D. Falling Action:
Kikay and her “Fiancé”, Tony talked. And he opened up
about their engagement before she left. But rude
Kikay doesn’t want to pay attention. Cheekily, she
told him that being engaged to him is just a childish
act. To make sense, she insulted Tony by making him
realize an “ordinary Tondo Boy will never marry a New
Yorker girl.” Tony was hurt by Kikay’s judgment and
told her that New York didn’t bear her any good.
Kikay discovered that his love is engaged to one of
her childhood friends which made everything worse.
There was chaos inside the house as they were all
fighting.

E. Ending:
After all the fight, Totoy and Nena left. As Kikay
understand what Tony told her, she now realized. She
asked Tony for forgiveness and promised him that she
will be the girl he used to know. She told him that
the girl he was talking to was dead and Kikay is
back. And because of Tony’s intense love for her, he
forgave her and hug each other.

V. Theme:
The play was comedy which has a deep meaning. It was

about neglecting your own identity and pretending to

be someone you’re not.

VI. Lesson from the story:

I learned the importance of loving your friends and
family, those who have been with you from the
beginning. Most importantly love for your own roots
and real identity. Embracing your true self and where
you came from because there is no other place like
home.

VII. Symbols used in the play:

The most important symbol used in the play is the
Mango Tree. The tree symbolizes their friendship and
all the memories they had during their childhood.

VIII. Filipino Traditions

The Filipino tradition I learned from the story is
love for our country. Love for our traditions and
beliefs. That no matter how much we change, we will
always be a Filipino through heart.
