Preaching Series: Block Party––Everyone Is Invited!

We are more than one church with two locations (our Moorhead Campus and Downtown Fargo
Campus); we are one church with 800+ individual, household locations. That is how we have been
learning to live out our mission through 2020––“To gather, grow, and go so that ALL may know the
Good Shepherd!”

Rev. When I came to Good Shepherd in 2012, I shared ministry tools I had learned from Vibrant Faith
Mary Suomala Folkerds Ministries (VFM), a church organization that got its start as the Youth & Family Institute out of
Lead Pastor Augsburg College. The main concept is that to pass on a vibrant faith to the next generation, five
principle understandings shape our faith sharing:
1. Faith is formed by the power of the Holy Spirit through personal, trusted relationships—often in
our own homes.
2. The Church is a living partnership between the ministry of the home and the ministry of the
congregation.
3. Where Christ is present, the home is the Church, too.
4. Faith is caught more than it is taught.
5. If we want Christian children and youth, we need Christian adults.
Rev. Taylor Wilson These guiding principles were written long before COVID–19. They are foundational to the movement
Pastor of
Mission Development Jesus started 2,000 years ago. This fall, we want to equip our 800+ locations to grow in faith. We want
the Church and the home to be a living partnership where Jesus is known!
To kick off the next season of faith development at Good
Shepherd, we are having a Block Party on Wed., Sept. 9, from
5:00–7:00 pm. This will be an outdoor event at the Moorhead
Campus with the following socially–distanced activities:
