Use a dry-brush technique and follow the traced lines to point the bats and cots block and to point the ghosts white. To dry-brush, dab off most of the point onto a paper towel; then point the fabric design [see Photo BJ. Too much po.nt on the brush will couse it to bleed. Hong or loy the curtain flat while the point dries. If desired, use black tube paint to draw in face details and to outline

From lining fabric cut a piece V2 inch larger all around than the valance. Trim the valance V4 inch beyond the scallop line. Trace the scallop pattern along a long edge of the lining and cut along the line. Right sides faCing, sew together the scallop edges of the valance and lining. Clip the seam allowance, turn right side aut, and press. Fold the sides of the lining to meet the valance side edges; press and pin in place. Hand-sew the edges together. Tack the upper edge of lining to the valance below the tabs.

the outlined areas, [see Photo BI. Let the conditioner dry. Point designs within four hours of applying the conditioner, or reapply the conditioner before painting.
Begin pointing the dragonflies, referring to the photo, page 195. Poinl the wings and body white (see Photo CI. While the paint is wet, blend In blue and purple shadows (see Photo DJ. Paint leaves and flowers in the same manner. Paint a vine using two or three shades of green. Point small round purple and pink flowers by dipping a round paintbrush into both colors and applying the brush with a dotting motion onto the basin. Let the paint dry.
Apply narrow block shading lines and design details to tne flowers and insects (see Photo EI. Let the point dny.
Apply one or more coots of gloze to the pointed areas, ollowtnq drying time for each cool. Allow the paint to air-dry for at least 1 0 days before using the basin.
NOTE: Clean the basin only with nonabrasive cleansers. Avoid leaving water 10 stand in the basin.

what to do
Wipe the brick clean; make sure it is dry. In a well-ventilated work area, cover the work surface with newspapers. Spray the brick with white primer. let the primer ~ry.
To make the desiqn. above, paint the tap of the brick white. let dry. Point the sides red let dry
Trace a pottern, pages 200-20 I, ia tracing paper. Shade fhe back of the tracing with a soh lead pencil. Design side up, lope the tracing to the brick. Trace Ihe lines with a sharp pencil 10 transfer the design a the brick [see Photo A, rigM. If the surface is

the patterns.
Using the pointing gUide on page 200, point in all the designs. Use the fine liner brush to paint green vines. Point purple
stripes on the red sides of the brick. Let the paint dry.
Use a black point pen to outline the designs [see Photo BI. Draw a zigzag edge along the yellow border.
On the large flower, dot block on the tips of the flower petals by dipping the end of a large paintbrush handle in painl and applying ilia the petal. Let the point dry. Use a smaller paintbrush handle
to apply yellow dots in the center of Ihe black dots.
Let the point dry.
