In Central European folklore, Krampus is a horned,
anthropomorphic figure described as "half-goat, half-
demon", who, during the Christmas season, punishes
children who have misbehaved, in contrast with Saint
Nicholas, who rewards the well-behaved with gifts
"THE WEEPING WOMAN"
In Latin American folklore, La Llorona "The Weeping
Woman" is one of the most famous oral legends. The lore
states a woman was abandoned by her husband and was
left alone to raise her two sons, whom she instead
drowned in a river out of grief and anger.
"SLEEPY HOLLOW"
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is about a young
schoolteacher named Ichabod Crane. Ichabod moves to
the town of Sleepy Hollow and falls in love with a woman
named Katrina, the prettiest girl in the whole town. One
night, at a party, Brom, the town bully, tells the horrible
tale of the Headless Horseman to scare Ichabod. Brom
loves Katrina, too, and wants to get rid of Ichabod!
According to the tale, the Headless Horseman is an evil
spirit that takes the shape of a large man that has no
head! He rides a black horse and holds a flaming jack-o-
lantern in his arms and chases after people who come
near his woods to get their heads for himself!
