from the movie Frozen. The tone reflected is
a fearful or ominous one by using certain
clips and music.
Toy Story- Horror
Look at how the tone can be changed in Toy
Story from a happy or carefree tone to fearful
one. This is done through the use of music
and the words that the narrator chooses.
Tone in Text
Writers cannot rely on music, pictures, or
facial expressions to show the tone. This is
why words must be chosen carefully. When
we are reading, all we have to go on is the
words that the author chooses in order to let
us know how they feel about the subject.

Analyze a Text and Cite Evidence
Now that we understand tone, our job today is to analyze, or look closely at
a piece of text to see how tone is used. We will then find examples that we
can use to support our claims. This is called citing evidence. We are
basically just giving examples or proof of what we see in the text. In this
case, we are paying attention to tone. The text we will use is a song.
