Singapore has been widely affected by globalization in the past few decades. It was
categorized as one of the Four Asian Tigers namely Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and
Singapore. This state is a nation largely influenced by the impacts of globalization and has
been influenced by the Global economic growth. Globalization means eliminating trade
barriers and increasing global convergence. This features a high degree of labor, land,
intellectual property, and ideas transfer as well as financial and technology. In other words,
globalization can be defined as a system that will help expand the diversity and scale of the
industry , new tax and regulatory structures, cheaper jobs and one of the most important
items new sources of knowledge and mass media.

Singapore obtain the name City of the Future which was derived from the long-term
comprehensive planning. They plan decades ahead to sustain the needs of the citizens of
Singapore. According to CIA The World Factbook, Singapore is included in the first world
countries of 2020. Meaning this nation has a stable government, robust financial markets,
advance and modern infrastructures, low poverty and high standard of living which was far
similar from the position of the Philippines as a third world country which was so called as
less developed by the scholars. Philippines can getup near to what Singapore is right now.
Since our country has been making connections to the distant nations, I think it’s time that
we should intensify our associations at the grass roots level or locally. We have been
focusing on forming alliances towards other country that we forget how to induce
associations in our country of origin, the main reason why we do not have concrete
solutions that will help us be similar to Singapore. Singapore is undeniably a global
competitor and will continue to be successful in the next future. The Philippines should
continue innovating to bolster our current state. Through these innovations, we can entice
investors all around the world and can so far achieve the title of a world capitalist economy.
We shouldn’t only focus on what we can offer to the tourist which can dramatically
increase the footprint of the Philippines just like Singapore, but these innovations should
align with the needs of the Filipino citizens. Similar to Singapore’s Marina Bay, it has
strengthened their tourism, but they also made sure that they sustain the needs of their
inhabitants, so they made an underground which solved the foreseeable future problem of
their country. One of the foundations for building a stronger and advance future for the
Philippines is the preparation of the younger generations. It would help the country later in
a more established and cultivated Philippines. The Philippines should also have a nation
state system which greatly helped Singapore. One of the things that I noticed that the
Philippines is lacking is the inadequate number of researchers that could help determine
the future needs of the country. This team should help providing real tangible benefits to
the people. Though this is costly, we should invest to a group of people that will solve the
challenges that we might be facing in the future.

It is not very impossible for the Philippines to become-like Singapore. We have a

colossal amount of resources unlike the latter country, we just need to be more sensible on
how we can use it correctly that will benefit our own selves. It is not an effortless and
smooth drive towards a better and developed at the beginning, but once we get the hang of
it, Philippines can be one of the state included in the list of the First world country just like
Singapore.
