Analysis of the open scope of the

Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE II)
This document reflects the common interpretation of the CECAPI members about the electrical installation equipment in residential and
commercial buildings falling into the open scope as definied by the WEEE2 Directive.

This document cannot substitute the requirements of the WEEE Directive as it is not legally binding; its aim is to be used for guidance by all the
economic actors.

The majority of the products contained in the list can be sold both as finished products and component’s parts (for the latter case, see Q 3.6 of the
Comission FAQ Document for more information).

For products composed of different separately sold components, only the basic component conveying the electrical current is considered (sockets,
switches, dimmers, circuit breakers, residual current devices, components of building automation systems and access control, sensors, data
connectors).

CECAPI is the European Committee of Electrical Installation Equipment Manufacturers. The scope of CECAPI covers all the equipment and
components for electrical installations for residential and commercial use.
