It’s important to provide learners with opportunities to take control of their own learning.

Students probably take responsibility for their learning when they create their own goals and
assignments. This is learner autonomy: The ability to take charge of one’s own learning. The
problem is that students still rewrite text books or summaries a lot of pages.

Learner autonomy plays an important role in motivation. Higher motivation translates into better
learning over the long term. For instance, I would leave my student to pick a writing goal for
themselves from a list, and I would pick one for each student too. They would also choose their
own genre and write about whatever they were interested in. If they choose what they want to
do, they will fell motivated in doing it.

We can use online collaboration tools that enable teachers and students to perform collaboration
activities and interactive discussions. One of them is PADLET: It provides a controlled learning
environment that helps the teacher to increase the writing process.

Using technology enables students to work collaboratively and simultaneously.
