Dual of Dual is Primal
• Every LPP has two parts i.e.
• Primal
• Dual
Rules for Conversion
1. If any of the constraint in Primal is of = Type
then covert into two constraints i.e. <= and
>= for Max. Problem and vice versa in Min.
2. Pure Problem: The given problem must be a
pure Maximization or Pure Minimization
Problem.
Rules for Conversion
3. In dual, the Objective Function will change
from Max. to Min and vice Versa.
4. The constant of constraints in primal will
become coefficients of variables in Objective
Function of Dual.
5. The coefficients of variables in Objective
Function of primal will become constant of
constraints in Dual.
Rules for Conversion
6. The sign of constraints will change from <= to
>= and vice-versa.
7. The coefficients of variables in constraints will
change their sequence from vertical to
Horizontal.
8. No. of variables in Dual must be equal to no.
of constraints in Original Primal.
9. No. of constraints in Dual must be equal to
no. of variables in Original Primal.
