Speaking Activity Adjectives.
Rationale: This speaking activity encourages and motivates lower level learners
that find it especially difficult to speak spontaneously, this activity incorporates
“thinking time” during which learners can prepare for speaking by planning what
they are going to say, as it is designed to be done in pairs or small groups.
Main aim: Practicing adjectives seen before or to introduce new ones. Students
personalize the discussion by talking about experiences and feelings. And by this
they practice past tenses, (past simple, past continuous).
Sub-aim: fluency practice, grammar (past simple, past continuous)., new lexis,
they also practice their listening skills by listening to their peers
Level: A2
Procedure:
Teacher models first the activity so they have a clear idea of what to do
Give students time to plan what they are going to say. They can make notes
and ask for vocabulary if they want to.
Student´s role: interaction with peers, listen to peers, ask for any doubts to the
teacher,
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
If it’s a large group the teacher might not be able to hear every group or
pairs. To give feedback
It can be too easy if adapted to higher levels
Not everyone likes to talk about their personal life.
