I born in the day where i’ve been stucked by my destiny. I born in where i supposed to
be, i’m my parents daughter, i’m a part of my family and i’m the i’m. All of them can be
found in a place that they have to be, it’s called Pontianak. Pontianak is the capital city of
West Kalimantan of the borneo island. Start from the land until the small side of this city, i
love it. Pontianak has everything actually that we need. Pontianak isn’t a big city. Pontianak
doesn’t have more high buildings. Pontianak isn’t a “diamond” for Indonesia like the other
cities, but Pontianak has something. Pontianak has a lot of traditions and cultures. One side of
pontianak, has more cultures. Can you imagine how many cultures that pontianak has?
Believe me you can’t count them. The traditions are like Meriam Karbit festival, Robo’
robo’, Dayung Sampan, and anything else. Meriam karbit festival is the most popular
tradition, this tradition is held on a big day like New Year or the celebration of religious
traditions.

Beside that, Pontianak has a lot of people who are very friendly. There are three most
dominant people, Melayu, Chinese and Dayak. They are so friendly and helping each other.
They are colouring Pontianak with a peace connection. From that connection, they create a
dance, a song, a movie, a festival, and anything more. Not just all of that, they create a
traditional games. The games are like Congklak, Gasing, Bokah, Gala hadang, and the other.
These games played by children in a small village that still in traditional situation. These
games have their own meaning and the meanings can be come from people’s story and
traditions at that place.

Pontianak has a river that so long and called Kapuas River. Kapuas River is the longest
river in Indonesia and Kapuas River be the one of ideas to make a song named Aek Kapuas.
Pontianak also has a tower called Khatulistiwa that named by a situation where the equator
stucked at 0 degree. Pontianak has a food that’s so close with Pontianak such as Bingke,
Sotong Pangkong, Chai Kwe, Kwe tiaw, Kopi Pancong, Tempoyak, Bubur Pedas, and the
other else. Pontianak has culture houses called , Rumah Adat Melayu, Rumah Betang dan
Rumah Radakn.
