Activity 1: Previous Knowledge Lesson (Lección de Reconocimiento de Curso)

Esta actividad tiene por objeto motivar a los estudiantes del Curso de Inglés 0 a participar
de manera didáctica y agradable. De esta manera les damos una cordial bienvenida. Este
curso básico es el comienzo de los niveles de Ingles de nuestra Universidad Nacional
Abierta y a Distancia. Tiene un valor de 10 puntos del total del curso. El archivo consta de
2 lecturas muy básicas sobre las cuales están basadas las preguntas de la actividad.

Reading 1: The Waiter

My name is Pedro Mastrides and I am from Greece.

I work in a restaurant in Iallisos, Rhodes. I'm a waiter. I'm 35 years old. I'm married and I
have 4 children. I have 2 sons and 2 daughters.

My daughters are called Lisa and Maria and my sons are called Pedro and Michael.
Michael is 11 and Pedro is 18.
Mi nombre es Mastrides Pedro y soy de Grecia.

Yo trabajo en un restaurante en Iallisos, Rodas. Soy un camarero. Tengo 35 años de edad.

Estoy casado y tengo 4 hijos. Tengo 2 hijos y 2 hijas.

Mis hijas se llaman Lisa y María y mis hijos se llaman Pedro y Miguel. Michael tiene 11
años y Pedro tiene 18 años.

Reading 2: My Cottage

My beautiful cottage is 300 years old. It is in the countryside near the village of Burston,
where there is a post office, a restaurant and one shop.

The cottage has two double bedrooms, a big living room, a small dining room, a bathroom
and a kitchen. Downstairs there is the kitchen, dining room, bathroom and living room.

The living room is next to the dining room and the kitchen and bathroom are to the left of
the living room.

The kitchen is very large. It has lots of appliances; it has a washing machine, a dishwasher,
a fridge, a bread maker and a microwave. We also have a big garden with lots of flowers
and trees.

I live in this cottage with my Mum, Dad, brother, dog and cat. My parents, brother and pets
love living in the cottage. My dog because it has a big garden to play in and my cat because
he loves catching and eating mice - and believe me there are hundreds!

I don't like where I live because there aren't a lot of things to do. There aren't any shops,
pubs, cinemas or leisure centres. If I want any of these places I have to go to the city centre
and the city centre is far!
I think that when I have enough money I am going to move to the capital of my country,
London. I believe that, although I won't live in such a beautiful house, I will have a lot
more things to do!

Mi hermosa casa de campo se encuentra a 300 años de edad. Es en el campo cerca de la

aldea de Burston, donde hay una oficina de correos, un restaurante y una tienda uno.

Traducción

La casa tiene dos dormitorios dobles, un salón grande, un comedor pequeño, un baño y una
cocina. En la planta baja se encuentra la cocina, comedor, baño y sala de estar.

El salón está al lado del comedor y la cocina y el baño están a la izquierda de la sala de
estar.

La cocina es muy grande. Tiene un montón de aparatos, sino que tiene una lavadora, un
lavavajillas, una nevera, un horno de pan y un microondas. También contamos con un gran
jardín con muchas flores y árboles.

Yo vivo en esta casa con mi mamá, papá, hermano, perro y gato. Mis padres, mi hermano y
mascotas encanta vivir en la casa de campo. Mi perro, ya que tiene un gran jardín para
jugar y mi gato porque le gusta cazar y comer ratones - y créanme que hay cientos!

No me gusta donde vivo porque no hay un montón de cosas que hacer. No hay tiendas,
bares, cines o centros de ocio. Si desea alguno de estos lugares que tengo que ir al centro de
la ciudad y del centro de la ciudad está muy lejos!

Creo que cuando tenga suficiente dinero voy a ir a la capital de mi país, de Londres. Creo
que, a pesar de que no voy a vivir en una casa tan bonita, voy a tener muchas más cosas que
hacer!
