ABSTRACT

Nowadays many water resources are polluted by anthropogenic sources including

household and agricultural waste and industrial processes. Several conventional wastewater
treatment techniques, i.e. chemical coagulation, adsorption, activated sludge, have been applied
to remove the pollution, however there are still some limitations, especially that of high
operation costs. This project is to ensure safe and sustainable PIPED drinking water supply from
surface water sources at 100 LPCD (litres per capita per day) for rural areas, 135 LPCD for
Municipalities, 150 LPCD for Municipal Corporations and 10% to meet Industrial requirements.
The Project comprises of segments in district and supply water to 62550 habitations which
covers the pipeline of 1.697 lakh Km and it includes 8 nos. of intake structures, 54 nos. of Over
Head Balancing Reservoirs, 55 nos. of Ground Level Balancing Reservoirs & sumps, 3557 nos.
of Village Over Head Service Reservoirs and 15 nos. of Water Treatment Plants. The Works
costing of about Rs. 1243.01 Cr has been sanctioned. All intake structures, transmission lines,
WTP structures are in advance stage and are currently in very good progress
This paper reviews the use of waste water treatment technologies to remove contaminants
from wastewater such as halogenated hydrocarbon compounds, heavy metals, dyes, pesticides,
and herbicides, which represent the main pollutants in wastewater
