State – Political organization of society, or the body politic, or, more narrowly, the institutions
of government. The state is a form of human association distinguished from other social groups
by its purpose, the establishment of order and security; its methods, the laws and their
enforcement; its territory, the area of jurisdiction or geographic boundaries; and finally by its
sovereignty. The state consists, most broadly, of the agreement of the individuals on the means
whereby disputes are settled in the form of laws.

Government – the political system by which a country or community is administered and

regulated.

– A group of people that governs a community or unit. It sets and administers public policy and
exercises executive, political and sovereign power through customs, institutions, and laws within
a state. A government can be classified into many types--democracy, republic, monarchy,
aristocracy, and dictatorship are just a few.

Society – A society is a group of individuals involved in persistent social interaction, or a large

social group sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same
political authority and dominant cultural expectations.

Citizens – The citizens of a town or city are the people who live there.

– a native or naturalized member of a state or nation who owes allegiance to its government and
is entitled to its protection. Someone who is a citizen of a particular country is legally accepted
as belonging to that country.

Non-Governmental Organization – A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a non-profit,

citizen-based group that functions independently of government. NGOs, sometimes called civil
societies, are organized on community, national and international levels to serve specific social
or political purposes, and are cooperative, rather than commercial, in nature.

Politics – are the actions or activities concerned with achieving and using power in a country or
society.

– the activities of the government, members of law-making organizations, or people who try to
influence the way a country is governed.
