PRAISE & WORSHIP

The team has the option to choose praise and worship songs preferably related
to the topic. Let’s emphasize that Praise and Worship is a way for them to show God
just how much they love Him. During Praise and Worship, they should even let their
heart “sing” for God. They would feel joy also as they sing and dance for Him.
Transition Song: Nothing but the Blood

What can wash away my sin? Oh! precious is the flow

Nothing but the blood of Jesus; That makes me white as snow;
What can make me whole again? No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE LESSON

The next Old Testament
person we will talk about today is a
Moabite widow who went to Bethlehem with her mother in-law. Her name is Ruth and
she is a Moabite. Do you know what is a Moabite? It means that she comes from the
tribe of Moab. She is not from Israel. She did not belong to God's people. But God
accepted her because of her faith. And because of her faith, something great happened
to her family. Let’s learn about the life of Ruth in our story today.

But before that, let us first sing the Bible Time Song!

(Sing the Bible Time Song. It would be better to show a real Bible.)

Here we are now the Bible time, Bible time, Bible time.
Here we are now the Bible time, so let’s sit down and listen.
Open our eyes so you can see
Open your ears so you can hear
Open your nose so you can smell
Clap your hands and zip your mouth.

RUTH

Bible Story telling via large pictures

Materials: big print out of pictures

Instructions: Tape the print-outs in different parts of the room. Move to each picture
together with the kids. Narrate what happens in each picture.

Picture 1: In a place called Moab there lived a nice family. Elimelech, his wife Naomi
and their two sons moved there because there was more food there than where they
used to live.

Picture 2: After a while Elimelech died but Naomi wasn't alone because she still had
two sons. Her sons got married but after about ten years they died too. Her sons’ wives
keep her company; their names were Orpah and Ruth.

Picture 3: Naomi called her sons’ wives and told them, "I am going to go back to where
I used to live and I would like you also to go back to your family where you used to live.
May God show you kindness as you have showed me." All the women cried and
hugged each other because they were such good friends. Orpah didn't want to leave
Naomi but Naomi told her not to worry, she would be fine. So Orpah left to go back to
her family.

Picture 4: But no matter what Naomi said to Ruth, Ruth would not leave. "Don't ask me
to leave. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your friends will be my
friends and your God will be my God."

Picture 5: So Ruth and Naomi returned to Bethlehem together. When they got there
Ruth looked for work. It was harvest time, so she worked in the fields picking up any
barley that they had left. The owner of the field came by to greet the harvesters and
noticed Ruth in the field.

Picture 6: He asked one of the harvesters who she was. "She came back from Moab
with Naomi, that's all I know." The owner of the field was Boaz; he was a kind man who
believed in God. He had also been related to Elimelech (Naomi's husband that died).
Boaz went to go talk to Ruth, he said to her, "Don't go work in any other field but stay
here with the other servant girls. I will make sure you are safe and whenever you are
thirsty go and get a drink from the water jars." When Ruth heard this she bowed down
to Boaz and asked, "Why are you being so nice to me, I'm not even from here.” Boaz
replied, "I know what you've done for Naomi, you left your family and moved to a place
you've never been. May the Lord reward you for your kindness."

Picture 7: Ruth thanked Boaz and continued with her work in the hot sun. Boaz even
ordered his workers to drop extra barley so Ruth could have more for herself. Ruth took
the entire barley home and shared what she had with Naomi. And eventually Ruth
married Boaz and everyone were very happy!

OBJECT LESSON

MATERIAL: ‘Basket Grains’ craft

Instructions:
1. Make a ‘Basket’ craft using the craft materials.
2. Ask 3-5 volunteers to paste/tape the grain cut-outs inside the basket.

In this story, we can see that God provided for Naomi and Ruth. Because of their faith in
God, He rescued them and helped them. God sent Boaz to help Ruth have more than
enough grains for herself. Let us remember to call upon God for strength whenever we
are weak and we need help.

CONNECT

During Naomi’s time, a redeemer (someone who rescues) is someone who

would buy back the land a widow had lost when her husband died. He would promise to
care for her. Jesus is our Rescuer and Helper in an even greater way. By dying on the
cross for our sins, Jesus paid the price to rescue us from the curse of our sin. Now all
those who trust in the Lord are saved. They will live with God in heaven and He will take
care of them.

Guide the children in reciting the power truth and power verse.

PRAYER

Dear Lord,
Thank you God for sending Jesus to rescue us from our sins. Thank you Jesus
for dying on the cross so that we can be saved. In Jesus name, amen.
