The present work seeks to analyze environmentally and economically the plastic recycling activity in the
department of Santander, carried out by specialized companies, in charge of the transformation of plastic
waste into new raw materials, which manage to supply different industries at a national level. This economic
activity responds to the latent need of the world to reduce as much as possible the use of plastic in the
manufacture of mass consumption products, in order to move towards a circular economy that allows to
mitigate the environmental impact generated by the final disposal of this waste.

The methodology used to carry out this project will be the investigation of different sources of statistical
information, bibliographic content and interviews with companies that carry out this economic activity. The
aim is to analyse the environmental, social and economic contribution that makes this activity a sustainable
business in the department of Santander.


