Question 1: Using stiffness method, determine the displacement of node 1


and the force in member 2. Take A = 1.0 in2 and E = 29000 ksi.

Question 2: With A = 0.001m2 and E = 200GP a, using stiffness method


find the vertical displacement of node 4.

Question 3: For structure shown in figure 3, take E = 200GP a and I =


200 × 106 mm4 . Find all the reactions at the support using stiffness method.
Note that the support at C settles down by 10mm.

reactions. Take E = 200GP a and I = 200 × 106 mm4 .

ing two span continuous beam. Use Stiffness method.

Question 9: A two-span continuous beam (AB = 4 m and BC = 5 m, E


= 200000 M P a, I = 500 × 106 mm4 , supports B and C are roller) is shown
as below. Support C settles downward 45 mm. Find out all reactions due
to support settlement and draw BMD. There is no external load is applied
in the beam. Use direct stiffness method.
