Letter To Newly Admitted International Students - Fall Enrollment Options
Letter To Newly Admitted International Students - Fall Enrollment Options
Congratulations on your admission to UNT! We want to share more information about the
Fall 2020 semester so you can finalize your plans to start your studies at the University of
North Texas soon. In this message we present you 3 options. Details about each option can
be accessed at this webpage.
The UNT campus is reopening this Fall and we can’t wait to welcome our students back to
campus! The Fall 2020 on campus experience will not be entirely ‘back-to-normal’ as social
distancing will still require many classes to be taught largely or totally online. But our
students will have access to many on campus services like the Student Union, Library and
Recreation Center. Plan to arrive on campus no later than 2 weeks before the start of
classes, on Monday, August 24th. Courses in Fall 2020 will be held on the regular semester
schedule ending mid-December, with the on-campus components ending by Thanksgiving
(Thursday, November 26th 2020). If you are able to get a visa appointment, reserve flights
and comply with possible quarantine restrictions, please proceed to complete your Fall
2020 I-20 letter application right away via iNorthTexas.unt.edu. Please let us know your
plans by emailing I20@unt.edu with the date of your planned arrival and a copy of your
visa stamp before August 1st, 2020.
While the global pandemic continues and uncertainties about visa interview appointments
and travel restrictions remain, we understand you may not be able to arrive on campus in
time for the start of the Fall 2020 semester. To keep your studies on track UNT will provide
you the option to start your studies online during Fall 2020, and then come to campus in
Spring 2021. Your online courses in the Fall will be offered at significantly reduced cost!
Your Academic Advisors at your UNT College will assist you to select your online courses,
share detailed information, and assist you to enroll. Keep in mind that current regulation
regarding online enrollment does not make it possible for you to arrive on campus half-way
through the semester. Please proceed to inform us of your intent to start your program
online in Fall 2020 via this e-Form, before August 10th, 2020 and we will re-issue your I-20
for a Spring 2021 arrival to UNT by the end of August, 2020.
Option 3. Deferred Start
We understand that the current economic and health situation may lead you to defer the
start of your studies. Please let the UNT Admissions Office know your plans by email
at: international@unt.edu before August 1st, 2020. UNT will allow you to defer the start of
your program to Spring 2021 at no cost and with no additional application. If you plan to
defer your start for one year, to Fall 2021 please check with the UNT Admissions Office if a
new application will be required. Please be aware that if you have been awarded a UNT
Excellence Scholarship, the scholarship will not be available if you choose to defer.
