REPORT ON INTERESTING JOBS

During the first year in university, after I studied Principle of Marketing I


considered two jobs that I am really interested in that are market researcher and
brand manager.

Market researcher

What is it?
Market researcher who research the market, market research is the process
of researching to understand consumers’ behavior interests and preferences in a
market economy and aim to understand the insight, as well as to get the opinions
and feedback to tend to the potential target market (Twin, 2019).

How is it? 
Market research composed of quantitative research and qualitative research.
Quantitative research is the collection and analysis of information on the basis of
data obtained from the market. The purpose of quantitative research is to come to
conclusions through the use of statistical methods to process data and statistics.
Qualitative research is a form of research that is often used to sound public
opinions to gain insight into issues by face to face. Quantitative methods including
various forms of surveys such as online surveys, paper surveys, mobile surveys,
cross-surveys. mail or email, ect. Quantitative research is appropriate in the study
of attitudes, opinions and behaviors of surveyed people. Quantitative results from
each individual will be generalized to determine the target market for making
decisions. From which, the company can choose a group of people of a particular
area to interview and observe each individual (SIS International Research, n.d.).
Qualitative research usually approaches the research object in the natural way in
order to ensure the behaviors, opinions and points of view of the research object
will be most objective and accurate through that the company can get a variety of
information even it is possible to get the information that never thought of
(Crossman, 2020). The problem is recognized from the perspective of an insider so

that the researcher plays an important role and will help us better understand the
issues that quantitative research is easily overlooked. Qualitative research helps
clarify the factors of behavior and attitudes of research objects. Because qualitative
research uses unstructured research methods, the flexibility is very high. 

What makes it interesting and why are you interested in doing it?
I am really interested in qualitative research because this is a form of face to
face survey so that I can practice my judgment and communicate more skillfully so
as to capture customer psychology effectively. This job makes me feel excited
when I spend a lot of time thinking about why it is not possible to reach potential
customers and then I find the causes that I did not expect. Not only that, the guest
lecturer of Principle of marketing shared that this job had an interesting point that
could be traveled to a lot of destinations, which makes us not bored when  the job.
I think I can improve my knowledge about diversity so as to accumulate
experience for my promotion. Furthermore, to be a start-up, this is the first thing to
do when I do not know how to launch my service or products effectively. This job
helps me to be confident to approach potential customers easier. If this step is
successful, the next step will be easier. 

Brand manager

What is it?
Brand manager who takes responsibility for building a brand image for a
company's products or services through customer insights analysis and branding
strategy (Brogie, n.d.).

How is it?
Brand managers follow market trends, survey consumers and find out what
competitors’ campaigns.  Analyzing brand positioning and identifying insights of
target customers in order to determine positioning to enter to the market.
Furthermore, it is ensured to be harmonious between the brand's characteristics and
its vision and mission, which will be suitable for strategies and campaigns. To

position the brand clearly, brand managers who propose ideas for , follow and
report the efficiency of campaigns. There is a thing that brand managers have to
suffer risks unexpectedly. Thus, brand managers have the ability to anticipate
forthcomings and propose make-up plans in order to settle in time, which leads
under pressure for those who can not perform well under pressure. Brand manager
also oversees marketing and advertising activities to ensure consistency with the
product strategy (Brogie, n.d.). 

What makes it interesting?


This is an interesting job because it is quite a challenging job which requires
a lot of knowledge and skills proficiently, especially making decisions is an
relevant element when working as  brand manager. Moreover, this job also
requires being a person who can analyze the market and risks well. To me, this job
will help me to exploit all the possibilities that I have never expressed before,
especially develop mindset and creativity to create campaign ideas for clearly
positioning for a brand.

Why are you interested in doing it?


The reason why I am interested in this job is because I love advancing
brands which have not been famous or popular by repositioning, researching and
analyzing why that company is unsuccessful. Thus, I want to apply to the brand
which is on the development stage but still not reach the target audience. This is a
chance for me to experience and build a solid foundation to  my own startup
journey. With the desire to do my own business in the future, I want to grow
myself in the best way in the short-run so that I can make a steep approach to my
nurturing ideas. 

Up to now, I am just looking forward to those jobs which are market


researcher and brand manager. The reason why I chose marketing industry but not
financial industry is because I have also found out about financial fields and joined
financial clubs but I feel that it is an inappropriate environment for me because I
feel bored and it doesn't give me as much motivation as I want. In the following

year, I will continue to pursue and find more professions that I find interesting to
bring more new experience for myself.

REPORT ON PERSONAL BRAND

Education background
September, 2019 - present, I am studying at UEH-Talented program
(Bachelor of  Business Administration)

Experience
1. Supporter of logistic team | ISB GAVEL ARENA 2020
From January 14  to January 19, 2020
In the eventday, my task is to check-in for participants and
summarize datas of high-school students who participate as a group. Before
check-in for participants, my task is to set-up lighting and decor everythings
on the stage. To organize well on the event day,my logistics team has to
prepare for 5 days in advance, with plenty of materials and efforts to make
the event fully organized and on schedule.
Key achievements
Although my time taking part as a supporter is not long, I received a
lot from this program, especially I could improve my meticulousness
because my characteristic is so hasty. Thus, this value which made me
understand myself when I need to calm down and consider which one is
important. Furthermore, I could grow my team-work skill and problem-
solving. I could see that even though I prepare well, I can not anticipate the
unexpected. So, this is a wonderful experience.

2. Collaborator of Communications | Heart of the Youth


From December 6 to December 9, 2019
I took in charge of the creative team so that I have a chance to write
content and design posters professionally. 
Key achievements
I actually develop myself about writing and designing skills and have
the ability to organize the process professionally.

3. Collaborator of Extẻnal Relations | MARGROUP


From April,2020 to present
MARGROUP is the professional environment where I am learning
about the way to orient and build the image for the brand as well as
MARGROUP in particular. My task is to research, generate resources for
the programme, project and internal activities. At present, I am Vice
Sponsor Manager of CMO Career 2020 which is the programme orient
career for students who are in second or third year. This is my first
achievement in MARGROUP that I gained.
Key achievements
MARGROUP is the environment that I self-grow better and better.
There are four hard skills in External Relations I have learned are research
data, write email, telesales and negotiate. Not only that, I can build my
personal branding clearly day by day, especially with the position of Vice
Sponsor Manager I have a chance to do proposals professionally.

Personalities
I am inclined to be both an internal and external person, so this is why I am
sometimes interested in noisy places and normally I love quiet places where I can
focus on working. I can work continuously for eight hours as long as I am in a
private place, on the other hand when I go to class I can only focus for a maximum
of 3 hours. I'm a freedom person, so I'm looking for a workplace where I can get
creative without having to put too much pressure on the rules.
