Assignment: II

1. Consider the system

1 − 2𝑧 −1 + 2𝑧 −2 − 𝑧 −3
𝐻(𝑧) =
(1 − 𝑧 −1 )(1 − 0. 𝐴𝑧 −1 )(1 − 0. 𝐵𝑧 −1 )

A and B is last two digits of your mobile number. If it is zero consider it as 1.

(a) Scale the Pole-Zero pattern. Is the system stable?

(b) Determine the impulse response of the system.

2. Determine the impulse response and the step response of the following causal system. Plot the Pole-
Zero pattern and determine the stability. A and B is last two digits of your roll number. Consider 1 if any
of the digits is zero.

(a) 𝑦(𝑛) = 0. 𝐴𝑦(𝑛 − 1) − 0. 𝐵𝑦(𝑛 − 2) + 2𝑥(𝑛) − 𝑥(𝑛 − 2)

(b) 𝑦(𝑛) = 𝑦(𝑛 − 1) − 0.5𝑦(𝑛 − 2) + 𝑥(𝑛) + 𝑥(𝑛 − 1)

3. How zero input response is different from natural response?
