3.1 Connecting an NE
This procedure describes how to connect the LCT server to an NE through the network
cable.
Context
The LCT can manage NEs that are both connected directly and indirectly.
l Manage NEs that are connected directly: connect the LCT server with the LCT
interface (or the Qx interface) of an NE directly.
l Manage NEs that are connected indirectly: connect the LCT server with the LCT
interface of an NE directly, and manage the indirectly connected NEs through ECC
communication between NEs.
The following are the prerequisites for managing NEs after the LCT server is connected
to NEs.
l On the LCT server, you can ping the target NE.
l Logging in to the LCT server in Telnet mode is enabled.
Steps
l Configure the IP addresses of the computer and the main control board of the NE to
be in the same network segment and set the default gateway.
Note:
The IP address of the main control board varies with device types and versions. For
specific descriptions, refer to product documentations.
In this example, the IP address of the main control board of the NE that is directly
connected to the LCT server is 11.10.10.1/24, and the subnet for IP address of the
non-direct connect NE is 192.90.10.0/24.
3-1
1. Open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, see Figure 3-1.
2. Set IP address to be in the same network segment as that of the main control
board. In this example, it is 11.10.10.12.
3. Set Default gateway to the IP address of the main control board. In this example,
it is 11.10.10.1.
l Use a network cable to connect the network interface of the computer where LCT is
installed to the LCT interface (or the Qx interface) of the main control board on the NE.
l (Optional) When the LCT server is connected to ZXMP M720, ZXMP M721, ZXMP
M820, ZXWM M920, or ZXONE8000, you need to add a static route.
