Dear Mayor

Katherine Barriga

My name is Christian and I’ve lived my whole life in Tomé. I’m writing to tell you about the several
problems that the Textile industry Crossville produces in the environment by dumping chemical
waste into the rivers of Tomé. That causes water pollution, bad smells in the houses that are closer
to the rivers and the death of many aquatic beings.

I´ve been thinking about three viable solutions to end this problem. the first one is to increase
inspection in the Textile industry and give expensive fines if they keep dumping chemical refuse
into the rivers. The second one is more drastic, and consist of closing down Crossville, because the
damage that they make to the rivers, environment and aquatic being is irreversible. The last one,
and more viable for the city economy and policy, thinking in the many jobs that the textile industry
produces is to make a plan to recycle the chemical refuse, this will be possible by the new
technologies and the chemistry expert’s advice, turning the useless chemical waste into new
monomers for the same Industry.

I really hope you consider my solutions and advice, specially the last one, because the community,
the environment can wait no more for a real change about this problem.
