Equilibrium 0.5-X 0.5 –X 0.2 + X 0.2 + X

mole

Ans: suppose, At equilibrium, X mol of CO2 decreases,

Kc = [CO] . [O2]/ { [CO2][H2]}

1.44 = (0.5-X) (0.5-X) / { (0.2 + X) . (0.2+ X)}

1.44= (0.5-X)2/ (0.2 + X)2

(0.5- X)/ (0.2 + X) = (1.44)1/2

0.5-x/ 0.2 + x = 1.2

X=0.34
So, equilibrium mole of:
CO2 = 0.5-0.34 & O2 = 0.5-0.34
CO= 0.2 + 0.34 & O2= 0.5-0.34
Question

Le Chatellier’s principle:
for a dynamic equilibrium When a settled system is disturbed, it will
adjust to diminish the change that has been made to it.
Question:

X(g) + 2Y(aq) ===== Z (S) + 3 Q (aq)

Write an expression and unit for

(i) Kc: ans: Kc= [Q]3 / [X][Y]2 ,

unit= (moldm-3)3 / {moldm-3 X (moldm-3)2} = no unit

(ii) Kp:

Kp = 1/PX

Unit= 1/ atm = atm-1
