source states that Singaporeans will flame the foreigners when they do
something wrong but not themselves. This shows that Singaporeans are
badly, but Singaporeans themselves do not think that they are a threat.

globalisation in Singapore.
MNCs are businesses with economic activities in more than one country.
The global span of their operations drives globalisation as they increase the
between the parties involved in the operations of the MNCs. There are
MNCs which operate in many countries. Such MNCs are like Starbucks
and the rest of the world. An example of a Singaporean owned MNC is the

Q1(a) The cartoon was drawn to show how difficult it is to become a Singapore permanent resident.
Being a Singapore PR is difficult and becoming is a great achievement for most foreigners. As
shown in Source A, there are two mountain climbers who are climbing the Mount Everest, clearly
climbing the Mount Everest is a very difficult and risky task to perform. With the Singapore Flag
representing the top of the mountain, shows that not many foreigners can achieve the Singaporean
PR title. The cartoonist is showing that becoming a Singaporean PR is not easy, the cartoonist,
therefore use Mount Everest with two climbers showing of a PR t-shirt, shows how proud they are to
(b) Source B and C are different in a way that Source B is stating how letting foreigners into
Singapore is not a good thing unlike Source C contradicting Source B stating how they are trying
their best to integrate into Singapore. Letting foreigners coming into Singapore has advantages and
disadvantages. The advantages of this is that we can have more foreign talent and can learn their
culture since we are a multi-national society. The one of the disadvantages is that we must compete
with them and will have more difficulty climbing the social-economic-status (SES) ladder. The
evidence in Source B is ‘ Our local culture will clash with their foreign culture, threatening our sense
of national identity. Secondly, even when they have their Singaporean citizenship, we are still able
to differentiate them from the locals so majority will still view them as foreigners, apart from us
Singaporeans’. Whereas, the evidence of Source C contradicting Source B is ‘ We’ve done our best
to integrate and been welcomed in return, with friends inviting us to visit their homes and celebrate
with them at weddings, parties and religious festivals’. These two evidences clash as Source B
states that letting foreigners into Singapore leads to a clash in cultures and Source C states how
