I currently work in the healthcare industry in the Human Resources Department.

In the
time since we’ve started this class I have been promoted from Parking Concierge to HR
Assistant to Talent Acquisition Coordinator. My tasks initially written have changed and
so has my perspective.

The first task I listed as a Parking Concierge stated that it was “to assign parking access
to all employees, contractors, and Physicians.” I would reword this to state that my task
was to provide safe and efficient parking access to all which allows visitors to have one
less worry when coming into a hospital. It allows medical providers to concentrate on
providing the best services to all patients. Rewording this task identifies how one
gesture can start someone’s day off with less stress and worry free. We all know the
feeling of urgently responding to a call however to arrive and still have to find a parking
space as well as where to go.

The second task I listed as a Parking Concierge stated that I “collected payments for
leased spaces.” I would reword this task as providing a convenient place for employees
to settle their bill. The accounting team sits in another building which is tough to access.
By accepting the payments and transferring them to the accounting team, I provided the
convenience for the staff to submit payments at their leisure during a time that worked
for them. They didn’t have to rush to meet the accounting staff in their two hour open
window on certain days of the week.

The third task listed as a Parking Concierge stated that “I issue Metro passes and
conduct the Trip Reduction Survey for our company annually”. I would reword this as
providing worry free commute to our staff at no cost. Conducting the Trip Reduction
Survey provides our staffing with discounts and support services through the city. These
services keep our employees free from costs related to travel reduction.

As the Human Resources Assistant, the first task I wrote was “I will be responsible for
scanning all employee field files into the system.” I would reword that as ensuring all
documentation has been updated for a worry free search when needed. This service is
great back up for the employees when they need backup for any inquires as well as a
way to protect the organization.

The second task was “sourcing medical licensing to ensure they are renewed on time
and valid.” I would reword this as ensuring that our patients are receiving authorized
care by licensed professionals. By verifying licensing, I ensure that all care received will
be covered by medical insurance providers. Most patients aren’t aware that insurance
will deny any treatments received by unlicensed providers regardless of being in a
licensed medical facility.

The third task was “greeting all parties that enter the Human Resources Office.” I would
reword this task as providing a friendly face and positive spin to their visit to Human
Resources. In doing this, I was sought out by another department based on the positive
reviews received by employees. I have now been promoted to Talent Acquisition
Coordinator which means I will greet all new hires to our company and hire them in the
system.

The change in perspective has provided me the opportunity to advance in my career

within the time span of this course. According to company policy, we are unable to
transfer until you have been in the position for six months. My promotion came at the
three month mark and I truly feel that it was a result of changing my perspective.
